Interview with Professor Francesca Cabiddu

“We want to let universities be the force for good. And the good is that we have to build a more sustainable world,” says Dr Karen Maas, who, together with her Hungarian colleagues, has just started to research into the societal impact of universities at CIAS.

Decision researcher Giuseppe Attanasi joined the Corvinus CIAS International Research Centre from September 2024 to January 2025, and was able to start his work in a family atmosphere.

Thomas Walker, a respected Canadian finance and sustainability researcher with a competitive track record, has joined the Corvinus CIAS Research Centre for the winter months, appreciating the opportunity for focused work and praising our Visiting Professor programme.

After having 15 years of teaching cooperation with Corvinus the Finnish researcher Tommi Laukkanen decided to apply for the CIAS fellowship program. Since the 1st of September, he has worked with researchers from Corvinus on multiple research projects related to retail digitalization in CIAS.

V.G. Venkatesh, Professor and Associate Dean of the EM Normandie Business School, researching supply chain management and sustainability issues, fell in love with the free atmosphere of CIAS during his stay in Budapest. He has recently returned to France, but plans to make several more trips to Budapest in the near future for his ongoing research.

Partha Mohapatra, who came from the US, will spend three months in the CIAS Research Centre. During this time he will explore how artificial intelligence can be used to improve audit quality.

During the summer, American economist Marcus Dillender will spend two months at the CIAS Research Centre, working on a topic in health economics during his research fellowship.

Olga Gurova, from Laurea University in Finland, will spend a month at the CIAS, during which time she will research the situation and development potential of the Baltic second-hand clothing industry and the shopping habits of regular visitors to second-hand shops.

Panka Bencsik, a microeconomist and researcher in the United States, came straight from Nashville to Corvinus. She will spend two months at the CIAS to do research on the economic impact of the opioid crisis in the US.

Tetiana Sobolieva arrived at Corvinus last year, shortly after the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
