Center for Collective Learning
About the Center
The Center for Collective Learning (CCL) is an interdisciplinary research group operating at Corvinus University of Budapest and the University of Toulouse. The center is dedicated to advancing the fields of economic complexity, city science, and organizational mapping through rigorous, data-driven research. Its mission is to develop and apply innovative tools and knowledge to better understand the spatial and temporal dynamics of knowledge production and dissemination. The CCL’s vision is to become a leading European research hub for exploring how knowledge evolves and is structured across cities, countries, and organizations. Its overarching goals include fostering academic excellence, informing public policy, and supporting decision-making processes through the use of cutting-edge data science and machine learning methodologies.
To achieve these objectives, the CCL engages in research that explores how knowledge is accumulated and diffused within and across various economic and social structures. This includes examining the complexity of national and regional economies, the growth and transformation of cities, and the internal dynamics of firms and institutions. As the lab continues to expand, it also broadens its thematic focus, integrating new challenges and domains into its research agenda. The center’s work is supported by a prestigious five-year European Research Area Chair (ERA Chair) grant, which enhances its capacity to attract and retain top research talent in Europe, strengthening its role as a hub for innovation and interdisciplinary inquiry.
