About the Center

The ANETI Lab is an interdisciplinary research group affiliated with the HUN-REN Centre for Economic and Regional Studies and the Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies at Corvinus University of Budapest. Supported by the prestigious Lendület Program of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Lab is dedicated to advancing knowledge at the intersection of economics, geography, network science, and computational social science. The mission of ANETI Lab is to investigate the role of social and communication networks in shaping patterns of economic and technological development within urban and regional contexts. Its vision is to become a leading research hub in Europe that fosters interdisciplinary insights into the complex dynamics of innovation and development, while its primary goal is to generate empirically grounded, theoretically informed, and policy-relevant research that informs both academic discourse and real-world practice. Their various research fields cover

collaborative knowledge production, structural change and resilience, inequality, urban and spatial mobility, labour markets and skills, business transactions.

ANETI Lab’s work is driven by a deep commitment to exploring how interconnected social and technological structures influence regional economic outcomes. By combining advanced analytical techniques with a multidisciplinary perspective, the Lab seeks to uncover the mechanisms through which networks support innovation, collaboration, and knowledge diffusion across space. In addition to conducting high-quality research, the Lab also plays an active role in academic education and public engagement, aiming to contribute meaningfully to the broader scientific community and to the development of informed regional and innovation policies.
