Practical Information

Corvinus University of Budapest

Budapest is often ranked as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The University’s three buildings on the bustling Pest side of the River Danube boast a breathtaking location. Our Gellért campus on the Buda side is a 20-minute walk or a short tram ride away from the main site across Liberty Bridge, offering a peaceful environment in a leafy location.

Accommodation

Corvinus dormitories offer more than just a place to sleep — they create a community where students form lasting friendships, study together and enjoy the social side of university life. Staying in a dorm is not only more affordable than renting privately, but it also helps new students settle in quickly and feel part of campus life. At Corvinus you can choose between centrally located dorms just a short walk from the university, or buildings on Gellért Hill with beautiful views over the city.

Dormitories

Budapest has a wide range of rental options: shared flats, student residences and private studios. Students are encouraged to start their accommodation search early, especially for the autumn semester, when demand is high. Incoming students typically use local housing platforms, Facebook groups and dedicated student rental sites.

Health Insurance and Medical Care

We recommend that all incoming students have valid health insurance for the full duration of their stay in Hungary. EU/EEA students can use their European Health Insurance Card, while non-EU students need to arrange international health insurance before arrival.
Budapest has a wide range of public and private medical services, and English-speaking doctors are readily available. Students should keep a printed or digital copy of their insurance documents accessible at all times.

Non-EU/EEA students may require a visa or residence permit depending on their nationality and length of stay. Students should check the specific requirements well before travelling. After arrival, certain nationalities may need to complete local registration steps or extend their residence permit. Corvinus offers guidance, but students are responsible for submitting their own applications.

Corvinus University of Budapest

Corvinus has a central campus close to shops, restaurants, cafés and the riverfront. The area is popular among students and easy to navigate. On campus, students have access to study spaces, IT support, gyms, student clubs and various academic services. Many student organisations run welcome activities, trips and cultural events throughout the semester, making it easy to meet new people and explore Hungary.
