First steps in the Library (for Freshmen)

Why is the Library useful?

  • Library resources can help your university studies, e.g. you can use them to write better papers /thesis. Start collecting your sources at the Library.
  • You can access scholarly books in electronic format and in print as well.
Textbooks and other scholarly literature are available in electronic  format or as printed books.
  • The consultation rooms and the lecture room are great locations for common studies and project work too.
The library classroom and the consultation rooms are the perfect place for common studies and project work. Find out more about our consultation rooms here.
  • In the social spaces you can meet your friends and prepare for classes and exams together.

Where can you find the Library and its services?

  • In person: the Library’s entrance is on the first floor of building C. Check its opening hours.
  • Online: the university’s webpage, top menubar –> Research –> University Library
  • MyCorvinus app (No login needed for accessing the Library.)

How to use the library?

  • You will need a library card to borrow books and use certain services. You can pick one up free of charge at the library.
  • To access E-books and E-journals or online sources anytime and anywhere, install VPN-client or use EduID (limited to some databases).
  • Search for topics in SuperSearch.
  • If you want to borrow a book, check its location (e.g. Business Economics reading room) and its shelf sign (e.g. 40, D 50). You can borrow books marked with a white or white and yellow stripe on its label.
  • Use the self-service check-in/out machines. Your PIN code by default is your date of birth (mmdd – e.g. 0321). It can be changed by logging into the catalogue.
  • To help you with your studies, we have guides and training courses. You can find information about them in the Writing Center site.

Library programs

Library orientation, 1-4 September

During the registration week, from Monday to Thursday (1-4 September), we offer library orientations every day at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

In these short (approx. 15-20 minutes) tours, we will explore the library’s reading rooms and explain the basics of library usage.

We will start the groups flexibly, every 5-15 minutes, as required. The optimal size of a group is 20-30 students.

Meeting point is at the Library Information Desk, Building C, 1st floor.
