Corvinus Doctoral Scholarship

The aim of the Corvinus Doctoral Scholarship is to supplement the Hungarian state scholarship awarded in doctoral training, at the same time to support the most talented and best performing doctoral students, to promote the stability of their existential situation, and to make it attractive to enter academic careers.

The Scholarship is available to Hungarian citizens and persons receiving equal treatment.


The Scholarship is open to those who have submitted their application for admission to an academic career according to the Doctoral Regulations, participate in Hungarian state scholarship training and start their studies in the autumn of 2021 or after one of the Corvinus Doctoral Schools.

The amount of the Scholarship and the number of scholarship places that can be awarded are determined by the Board of Presidents, and the application is announced by the President of the Doctoral Scholarship Council in April each year. The scholarship is for one year and is a monthly allowance. The Scholarship will supplement the amount of the state scholarship to HUF 300,000 in the academic year 2023/2024.

Who may apply and what is the process of applying?

A prospective first-year candidate who:

  • submitted an application for admission to an academic career in accordance with the Doctoral Regulations;
  • applied for Hungarian state scholarship training;
  • start your studies for the first time in the doctoral program of Corvinus in the autumn semester of the academic year 2021 or after,
  • Hungarian citizen or person receiving equal treatment.


Second, third and quarterly students who:

  • studies at an academic level in accordance with the Doctoral Regulations;
  • participates in Hungarian state scholarship program:
  • began his/her doctoral studies at Corvinus for the first time in or after the fall semester of the 2021 academic year;
  • prepared the required report for the period prior to the submission of the application and it was approved by the Doctoral Scholarship Council.
  • Hungarian citizen or person receiving equal treatment.

The scholarship can only be awarded for a maximum of one semester corresponding to the number of state scholarship semesters (which is the same as the program period) (maximum number of semesters supported: 8).

Frequency of announcing calls for applications and amount of funds to be awarded

  • The application is announced by the President of the Doctoral Scholarship Council. The application must be published in April each year for a period of one year.
  • The detailed application conditions of the scholarship are included in the call for proposals. The call for proposals contains the doctoral student’s application conditions, the deadline for submitting the application, the evaluation criteria, the amount of the scholarship and the requirements related to the eligibility for the scholarship.
  • The Scholarship will supplement the amount of the state scholarship to HUF 300,000 in the academic year 2023/2024.
