Three graduates of Corvinus University recently took part in a special roundtable discussion; what they have in common is that they have all competed in the Olympics. The discussion was moderated by Associate Professor Attila Kajos, and Sára Bácskai, Ádám Büki, and István Péni shared their experiences on balancing university life with elite sports.

Bruno van Pottelsberghe, Rector of Corvinus University of Budapest, whose research focuses on innovation and patents, ranks first in Hungary in both the Economics and Finance field and the Business and Management field. In the global ranking for Economics, third place is also held by a researcher with ties to Corvinus: James J. Heckman, Nobel Prize-winning economist, Professor at the University of Chicago, and honorary doctor of Corvinus.

At the end of April 2026, the European Commission's Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) sent the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence plaque to Professor Ákos Kengyel, recognizing outstanding teaching and research activities in the field of European integration studies.

CUBE (Corvinus Undergraduate Business Experience) 2026 brought together 15 university teams from across the globe. Competitors arrived in Budapest from the United States, Australia, Asia and Europe for a week of competition, collaboration and international networking.

At last week’s meeting of the Board of Trustees of the foundation maintaining the university, board members confirmed that Corvinus’ operations and the implementation of its development plans are secured for this year. They also discussed the concept of the Corvinus Educational Excellence framework and the university’s application to host the 2030 CEMS Graduation Ceremony. In relation to the university’s dividend income for this year, Richter also held its annual general meeting last week, following MOL’s earlier decision.

From effective happiness strategies to agile marketing, a total of 11 research projects worth more than HUF 1 billion (cca. 2.8 million EUR) have been launched at Corvinus University of Budapest this year and in 2025 with support from the National Research, Development and Innovation Office’s National Research Excellence Programme (NKKP).

In May, our "Sustainability Theme of the Month" project will explore the connections between environmental challenges and social responsibility.

István Benczes, Professor and Head of the Doctoral School of International Relations and Political Science at Corvinus University of Budapest, has been awarded the Academic Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Once again, the usual four universities were represented at the now traditional competition.

In April 2026, tourism students participated in a four-day international study visit in Maribor and Ljubljana in frame of the CEEPUS program, where they expanded their knowledge and further developed their collaboration skills in an international environment.

The institute’s professor and former deputy head has held several international academic and professional positions throughout their career, and has strong international integration.

At this year’s award ceremony of Columbia University in New York, Ábel Ravasz received one of the institution’s most prestigious honors. Before pursuing his studies at Columbia, Ravasz was also a student at Corvinus University of Budapest. The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Recent Alumni Award is presented annually to a former student who has demonstrated outstanding professional achievements alongside a significant societal impact.
