Hungary’s higher education application period has now opened, and one key point for applicants is how many tuition-free places will be available at each university. 

At Corvinus, the number of tuition-free places is determined by the Board of Trustees of the Maecenas Universitatis Corvini Foundation, which maintains the university. The Board has decided that, in the 2026/27 academic year, at least as many first-year students will receive the tuition-free Corvinus Scholarship as in the previous admissions cycle. Among students enrolling in autumn 2025, more than 75% of those admitted via felvi.hu to Bachelor’s programmes, and an even higher proportion of Master’s students, are able to study with a Corvinus Scholarship. 

“Thanks to the Board’s decision, four out of five first-year students can study tuition-free with us. We have fine-tuned the scholarship system for the next academic year, making it even more favourable and more secure for students. It’s worth choosing Corvinus and listing our university as your first choice when applying,” stressed Lajos György Szabó, Vice-Rector for Education. 

The Corvinus Scholarship will become more predictable from 2026 

Previously, the Corvinus Scholarship was awarded for one year, and at the end of the first year students were ranked by programme and cohort. If, for example, 80 out of 100 admitted students held scholarships, the top 80 would keep them and the remaining 20 would have to pay tuition fees. For many students, this created uncertainty, as keeping the scholarship depended not only on their own performance but also on how others performed. 

This uncertainty will be removed. From 2026, the scholarship will be more predictable, so the first year can genuinely be about settling in and finding your rhythm. By the end of the first year, students must achieve: at least a 3.8 GPA average, and 54 credits out of the annual 60-credit study plan. There will be no ranking: anyone who meets the requirements will keep their scholarship. 

For Bachelor’s programmes, competitive reclassification will be carried out only after the second year from the new academic year. If a student does not reach the 3.8 average or 54 credits at that point, the faculty dean will announce a call for applications for the freed scholarship place(s). This also creates an opportunity for students who originally started as self-funded to move into scholarship status. 

For Master’s programmes, the rule is even simpler: if a Corvinus scholarship-holder completes their programme on time (one-year programmes within one year, two-year programmes within two years), they can study tuition-free throughout. 

Applying via felvi.hu: code for tuition-free full-time Bachelor’s programmes is ANA 

Applications are submitted through the same national system. If you choose Corvinus, you apply via felvi.hu using the “A” code indicating tuition-free study, just as you would for other universities. For example, for a full-time Bachelor’s programme with a tuition-free place at Corvinus, you should select ANA. 

Nine new one-year Master’s programmes 

Corvinus is expanding its Bachelor’s portfolio with an English-taught Business Informatics programme. In response to labour market demand, the university will also launch nine new one-year Master’s programmes from the next academic year, ranging from digital innovation to intellectual property management, from international sports business to agile entrepreneurship. A further advantage: applicants who hold a Corvinus Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least a “good” classification will not need to sit a written entrance exam when applying to Master’s programmes.
