AI, Music and Sociology: A Digital Christmas Gift for the Department

As a unique blend of academic curiosity, creativity, and festive spirit, Bence Ságvári (Institute of Social and Political Sciences, Department of Sociology) surprised his colleagues with an extraordinary digital Christmas gift that pioneers a new way of engaging with academic work through artificial.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

The project, titled “Best of MusiSociology @Corvinus”, is a fully produced digital music album created especially for members of the department. The album consists of 13 original
songs, each one dedicated to a colleague and inspired by their most cited or particularly meaningful academic publication.

Behind the scenes, the project is also a playful yet thought-provoking demonstration of how AI is rapidly entering academic and creative life. Beyond being a festive gesture, this initiative highlights ongoing questions at the intersection of sociology, technology, and culture: How will human and machine creativity coexist? Will audiences resist AI-generated art, or will its origin become irrelevant? Through this pioneering gift to colleagues, Bence Ságvári invites reflection, discussion, and perhaps even a bit of dancing.

The project stands as both a heartfelt holiday surprise and a forward-looking experiment—one that captures the spirit of innovation within the Department of Sociology and opens the door to conversations that will surely continue in the year ahead.
