Corvinus University of Budapest is committed to providing a respectful, inclusive and equitable environment for all members of its community.
The University seeks to prevent and address discrimination, harassment, unlawful segregation and retaliation, and to promote equal opportunities for students and staff.
If you experience or witness conduct that you believe may violate the principle of equal treatment, you can ask for information, seek guidance or, where applicable, submit a complaint.
A protected characteristic may include, for example, disability, health status, sex, age, racial or ethnic origin, nationality, mother tongue, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender identity, family status or another characteristic protected by law.
The purpose of this information page is to help students and staff understand what they can do if they experience or witness possible discrimination, harassment or another violation of the principle of equal treatment.

Who can raise a concern or submit a complaint?
Students and members of staff may contact the University regarding possible discrimination, harassment or other violations of the principle of equal treatment.
For student complaints, the applicable University Policy specifies who may formally submit a complaint, including:
- the affected student
- the legal representative of a minor student or
- an authorised representative acting on the student’s behalf
Procedures applicable to staff matters may differ, as the University’s detailed procedure for employee equal opportunity matters is currently under development.
If you wish to initiate a formal procedure, we will inform you which procedure applies and what information is required.
What happens after you contact us?
We will first consider the nature of your concern and which University procedure may apply.
If further information is needed, we may ask you to provide additional details.
If you wish to pursue the matter formally, you will be informed about:
- the applicable procedure
- the competent University body
- any information or documentation required and
- the next steps
Where appropriate and provided for by the applicable procedure, an informal or mediated resolution may also be considered.
Formal cases are handled in accordance with the applicable University rules and deadlines.
Protection against retaliation
Retaliation against a person for raising an equal treatment concern, submitting a complaint or participating in an applicable procedure is prohibited.
If you believe that you have experienced retaliation after raising a concern, please let us know.
Not sure which University procedure applies?
You do not need to determine the correct University procedure yourself.
Depending on the circumstances, a concern may fall under an equal opportunity, ethics, disciplinary, academic, employment, whistleblowing or another University procedure.

Student Equal Opportunities and Equal Treatment Policy
The Policy sets out the University’s framework for preventing and addressing violations of the principle of equal treatment affecting applicants and students.
It covers the submission and handling of equal opportunities complaints, the responsibilities of the competent University bodies, the investigation procedure and the available internal remedies.
