The Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor for an indefinite period (3-year contract).

The starting date is the Autumn semester of 2024.

Job description and key duties:

Teaching and mentoring activities:

  • Teaching courses in Communication and Media Science belonging to the portfolio of the Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences in weekly class hours as defined by the university’s Academic Career Model
  • Contributing to the continuous enhancement of teaching programmes and taking an active role in course development (also as course leader)
  • Student mentoring, PhD supervision and talent management

Research activities:

  • Active contribution to the research portfolio of the Department of Communication and Media Science, especially in media framing, media history, gendered communication, and organisational communication
  • Applying for research funds, both domestic and international
  • Active and regular participation in domestic and international conferences
  • Regular and quality publication outputs in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters
  • Regular dissemination of scientific results online and offline (e.g., Researcher’s Night, Research Week)

Service duties:

  • Actively participating in the professional life of the Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences and the university and performing service-related tasks as determined by the Head of the Institute and the Chair of the Department of Communication and Media Science.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • PhD degree
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in higher education
  • Experience in teaching courses in English
  • Positive student evaluation in the past three years (proven by the evaluation system used at the applicant’s university or other authentic, relevant documents or databases)
  • Proven track record of international publication activity.

Desirable criteria:

  • PhD degree obtained from a top international institution
  • Extensive teaching experience in language and communication (oral/written/persuasive, mass) at top international institutions, both undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Outstanding feedback (student evaluation) verifying teaching excellence
  • Recognised achievement in the dissemination of scientific results, in the form of Q1/Q2 peer-reviewed articles
  • Minimum 15 Scopus citations
  • Industry experience
  • Experience in and commitment to university service activities

Documents and certificates to be submitted as part of the application:

  • Curriculum Vitae including the detailed presentation of the teaching, research and service activities and results
  • Summary table of achievements (please fill in the Excel Summary Table – you can find it at the bottom of this webpage)
  • Cover letter, including the presentation of future academic plans (educational, teaching development and research plans)
  • References written by at least two reputable leading professors or researchers of the discipline (signed, scanned)
  • Research paper
  • Scanned copies of the documents verifying the university degree, scientific rank (e.g., PhD degree) and the documents verifying other professional qualifications. (In case of scientific ranks obtained abroad, the nostrification will be arranged in the next phase of the selection procedure.)
