The traditional Corvinus Research Week took place between 14-18 June. Attendance levels were high, and the variety of topics was impressive.

One of the central themes of the Research Week this summer was the collection of software accessible or potentially soon available at CUB. Invited guests and CUB researchers who, thanks to their experience, are considered ambassadors of certain software, introduced JMP-SAS, SPSS, Matlab, MAXQDA, EndNote, NVivo as well as Tableau and Microstrategy to a selected audience in the hope that Corvinus Faculty would make informed choices about the software to use in teaching and research in the future.

PhD students and early career researchers found the lecture dedicated to the tricks of writing one’s first Q1 article particularly beneficial. Those who attended the presentation were certainly convinced that, although with a great deal of ambition and lots of hard work, it is possible to place one’s articles in top international journals.

Participants were taken on a very stimulating journey around the topic of “impact”, while Covid-19 and its effects on our life also appeared among the topics, just like AI and competitiveness.

The events attracted not only CUB Faculty, PhD and master’s students but were also attended by invited guests from a variety of institutions, the Municipality of Budapest, and NGOs.

The Research Week was rounded off with a presentation by Professor Dr Gyula Vastag, Vice-Rector for Research on the current state of research at CUB. He discussed such issues as research infrastructure, research incentives and the various forms of support available to Corvinus Faculty.

Thanks to the presenters, most of the events were recorded and will soon be available to those who were unable to participate in the Week. The next Research Week is scheduled for January 2022 and will hopefully be held on the premises of the University.

Please help us make the January event even more appealing and successful by filling in our very brief questionaire.
