‘This selection process brings a major cultural change in the life of the University, as it is possible to apply for all head of institute positions in open calls, and we will conduct a transparent selection process to decide who will be the heads of the institutes of the Corvinus University’ ,

said Lajos Szabó, General Vice-Rector at the start of the conversation, adding that they would welcome an effective dialogue within the University about the final institutional structure and the heads of the institutes.,

The management of the University received until 13 May, and after the submission of possible missing items, the list of applicants were complete on 18 May. Lajos Szabó emphasized that applicants should involve the university community in the development of their professional concept as much as possible: ‘I encourage all the applicants to consult the leaders of the University, the head of HR and their future direct colleagues, too, so that the concept presented to the board assessing the applications enjoys the support of the people working in the organisation.’

In the first round, the applications will be assessed by the Rector, the Vice-Rectors, the Head of HR and three members of the Board of Professors, based on preliminarily defined points. Following that, the application board conducts a one-hour personal discussion with each applicant, based on which a shortlist will be compiled for each institute.

The shortlists may include maximum two applicants, and based on the applications, the board examines the details of the future structure of the institute. Applicants on the shortlist will be heard again by the board, discussing how their concepts fit the planned institutional concept covering all the institutes. After these discussions, the list of applicants ranked first by the board is defined for each institute.

Between 8 and 10 of June, each institute head ranked first will be heard at an open forum by the community of the University. The applicants will make a presentation about their professional programmes, which will be made openly available on the website of the University.

‘We will hold a moderated forum, where, after the presentation by the applicant, questions can be asked, then anyone may express his/her opinion about the submitted programme’, said Lajos Szabó. These forums will be open to the whole community of the University.

‘At these forums, we will primarily wish to hear the opinions of colleagues working in the future institutes, but, of course, anyone may contribute to the discussion’, explained Lajos Szabó.

Zsuzsanna Csenterics-Arnold also pointed out that for the HR it is extremely important to examine the applicants based on as many considerations as possible. ‘We worked out the process in a way that we determined the evaluation considerations for each phase, and attempted to make sure that we could consider the opinions of as many people as possible in the selection.’

At the end of the process, the Senate will comment on the persons recommended for heads of institutes, and a vote will be held about the support for each applicant, then, considering the opinion of the Senate, the Rector finalises the offer to the heads of institutes.

The process will be finished in the first week of July, when the first institute meetings will be held with the participation of the Rector.
