Plant your office plants in compost at a community planting event on Earth Day!

Following the success of last and the previous year’s events, we are once again hosting our community planting, where you can repot your office plants into a more sustainable compost instead of conventional potting soil.
If possible, please bring a (preferably reused) plastic pot for planting, so we can reduce the need for new ones. If you have any spare pots, feel free to bring those as well—someone else might find them useful. We will provide a limited number of tools (gloves, small shovels, watering cans), but you won’t want to miss the experience of getting your hands in the soil yourself.
At the event, we will also present the results of the Science Shop’s LOESS soil health research project, where you can explore an AR application, an interactive map assessing soil conditions, and various useful educational tools.
Three reasons why compost is more sustainable than conventional potting soil:
- High-quality compost purchased from composting facilities is made from organic material collected from municipalities, contributing to a circular economy model.
- It contains no artificial fertilizers or added chemicals. Moreover, it is peat-free, helping to reduce carbon footprint and protect natural habitats.
- The bags used for transportation will be reused at the next event, reducing packaging waste.
The program is also part of the April Sustainability Theme Month project, focusing on renewable, regenerative, and circular approaches.
