About us

OUR STORY

CSS’s immediate precedent was an exciting internationalproject, EnRRICH (Enhancing Responsible Researchand Innovation through Curricula in HigherEducation), in which, in cooperation with renownedscience shops, we looked at our courses, through theeyes of the society. Its other forerunner was the Social Enterpreneurshipand Social Economy Master course, where, since2006, we have been organizing course projects withsocial entrepreneurs building on the philosophy ofservice-learning.We spent the time between these two stages, preparingfor the future. Among others, two of our foundersstudied at summer schools led by Henk Mulder,a founding father of the Living Knowledge Networkfrom the University of Groningen’s Beta ScienceShop. In spring 2017, our activities became institutionalized:the CBS Faculty Council and the University Senateapproved the establishment of the Science Shop.Already in that semester, we worked on four pilotprojects and started our workshops.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Corvinus Science Shop (CSS) promotes dialogue between science and society. It is a meeting point for the local and the academic community.

CSS FOR OPEN SCIENCE

The science shop acts as a bridge where community partners bring their questions and challenges to the university and where they are partnered up with lecturers, courses and students. In these co-operations, civil and academic knowledge are given equal weight – we build on the diversity of knowledge, and the potential for common and mutual learning, and co-creation. Our community partners are: Civil Society Organisations informal communities active citizens social entrepreneurs non-profit organisations
