Transfer Procedure

This page is intended for Corvinus international applicants who gained admission to their current university and whose transfer admission is managed via the institutional procedure (i.e. DreamApply). If you gained admission to your current university via felvi.hu, please visit this page.

  1. Transfer requests can be submitted by any higher-education students wishing to continue their studies at Corvinus University of Budapest.
  2. The transfer request must be within the same or related field of study and at the same level of study. Related fields of study in the case of social sciences are humanities, and in the case of information technology, natural sciences, and engineering. For transfers into subject areas within economics, candidates must have studied within the same field of study (i.e. economics).
  3. Transfers are only available into fee-paying bachelor, undivided, and master’s programmes. Please see below for Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holders.
  4. Transfer requests will not be accepted in the case of postgraduate specialist training courses.
  5. Transfer requests are not accepted in the case of dual training programmes.
  6. Transfer requests are not accepted in the case of double or multiple degree programmes conducted in cooperation with Hungarian or foreign higher education institutions that result in a mutual degree.
  7. Transfer requests into guest student status, partial studies or preparatory programmes are not accepted.
  8. Students from another higher education institution can submit their transfer request if all the following conditions are met:
    • they are in a continuous student legal status with their current university
    • they have already completed 60 credits in the case of bachelor or undivided master’s programmes or 30 credits in the case of divided master’s programmes
    • they gained admission to the institution from which the transfer is made under an institutional (non-central) admissions procedure
    • they meet all admissions requirements defined under the institutional admissions procedure, as laid down in the Admissions Regulation for the programme for which the transfer is requested, applicable in the academic year for which the transfer is requested
    • they have reached the cut-off score set by the University for the relevant programme, applicable in the academic year for which the transfer is requested
    • they meet the given admissions requirements including the language exam criteria
    • they paid the transfer procedure fees, and
    • there is capacity in the programme the transfer is requested for.

BA/BSc

According to the current regulations of Tempus Public Foundation, scholarship students may initiate a transfer during the spring semester of their first academic year, typically in May. However, Corvinus University’s transfer policy requires applicants to have completed a minimum of 60 ECTS credits (equivalent to two full semesters) at their current institution to be eligible. Due to timing and requirements, transferring to Corvinus as a Stipendium Hungaricum/Diaspora bachelor’s student is currently not feasible.

MA/MSc

According to the current regulations of Tempus Public Foundation, scholarship students may initiate a transfer during the spring semester of their first academic year, typically in May. Corvinus University’s transfer policy requires applicants to have completed a minimum of 30 ECTS credits (equivalent to one full semester) at their current institution to be eligible.

The request must be submitted online in the dedicated time periods:

  • For the autumn semester between 1 and 15 July
  • For the spring semester between 10 December and 10 January

Submit your application via DreamApply. You must create a profile and select the Transfer option. You must upload all your relevant documents. We do not accept documents delivered in person.

Step-by-step guide on how to submit a transfer application

Transfer requests will be evaluated by 1 September for the autumn semester and by 1 February for the spring semester.

  • Incoming transfer applications will be checked for completeness and validity.
  • In the case of incomplete and/or invalid requests, the applicant will be notified via DreamApply and given the opportunity to supply the missing documents within a maximum of 5 working days.
  • If the deadline for providing the missing documents is not met, the request will be evaluated using the data and documents available.
  • Entrance examinations for the autumn semester are scheduled for the end of July and the beginning of August, and for the spring semester for the second half of January. Exact dates will be announced via DreamApply.
  • The official decision will be sent to the applicant electronically.
  1. The transfer application fee is 8% of the full-time Hungarian minimum wage rounded to the nearest hundredth (from 1 January 2025 this is HUF 23.300)
  2. The fee must be transferred to the Corvinus University of Budapest bank account:

  3. Proof of payment must be submitted with the application
  • Transfer application form (please see on DreamApply)
  • Transfer application fee proof of completed payment
  • Copy of language certificates (where required)
  • Copy of secondary school leaving certificate in the case of undergraduate, or degree certificate in the case of a master’s course transfers (both the original version and its official English translation)
  • Certificate of the student’s status from the current institution
  • Statement from the applicant or from the current institution to confirm that the student is not in a procedure of dismissal or not disqualified due to disciplinary proceedings
  • Syllabus certified by the current higher education institution
  • For master’s transfers, if the applicant’s bachelor’s degree certificate does not meet the entry requirements of the intended master’s programme in terms of course content and learning outcomes, then a certified copy of the credit recognition decision is required from the applicant’s current institution, which confirms the details and outcome of the credit recognition process conducted at the time when the applicant was accepted into their current master’s
  • Copy of the admissions decision document confirming the start date of the applicant’s bachelor or master’s studies (if available)
  • Certificate of any completed community work or field practice (if available)

  1. Paragraph 53. § (7) of the Study and Exam regulations of Corvinus University of Budapest states that the responsible Credit Acceptance Committee can accept a maximum 1/3 of the attainable credits stated in the intended programme’s content and outcome requirements. The remaining 2/3 of the credits must be completed at Corvinus University.
  2. Based on the above,
    • in the case of a 180 credit BA/BSc programme maximum 60 credits
    • in the case of a 210 credit BA/BSc programme maximum 70 credits
    • in the case of an undivided programme maximum 100 credits
    • in the case of a 120 credit MA/MSc programme maximum 40 credits
    • in the case of a 60 credit MA/MSc programme maximum 20 credits
    • in the case of a 240 credit MA/MSc programme maximum 80 credits
    • can be accepted from former studies.
  3. To receive the final certificate, the student must complete a minimum of 2/3 of the credits at Corvinus University of Budapest.
  4. The Credit Acceptance Committee will decide on the number of credits that can be recognised based on programme content, having examined copies of transcripts and the content of the transfer application submitted.
  1. Recognition of prior credit is required in cases where the applicant’s bachelor’s degree certificate does not meet the entry requirements of the intended master’s programme in terms of course content and learning outcomes.
  2. Recognition of prior credit is also required when the transfer applicant has not or only partially obtained the required credits stated in the credit recognition decision of the current higher education institution. This is so that the Credit Recognition Committee can determine whether the credits necessary for meeting the relevant entry criteria have been obtained via prior studies.

  1. If you wish to transfer from a non-Hungarian higher education, then it is a requirement that you provide a document showing the legal status of the foreign higher education institution, the content of the degree you are currently studying, along with its full specifications.
  2. If you hold a non-Hungarian secondary school leaving certificate or received your degree from a foreign higher education institution, these will need to be verified by the University. You also need to sign a declaration as part of your transfer application. This is a compulsory part of the process, which needs to be completed in order to be admitted to the University.   3. In the case of transfers into master’s programmes it is necessary to determine whether the non-Hungarian bachelor’s degree meets the requirements of the intended master’s programme.   4. Transfers from foreign higher education institutions are possible if the Admissions Committee
    • in the case of BA/BSc
      • accepted the secondary school leaving certificate received abroad for further education purposes
      • the transfer request and the supporting documents meet the general transfer requirements
    • in the case of MA/MSc
      • the degree received abroad is accepted for further education purposes
      • based on the credit recognition decision the BA/BSc studies match to the entrance requirements and
      • the transfer request and the supporting documents meet the general transfer requirements

The transfer request will be rejected if any of the related recognition or verification processes result in a negative outcome.

  1. The transfer will be completed once you enrol at the University.
  2. Study Administration Services will inform you by email about enrolment dates and any further instructions.
  3. When you enrol, you must bring original versions of the documents submitted during the transfer process.
  4. If you studied at a Hungarian higher education institution previously, once you have completed enrolment with Corvinus, the University will inform your previous university of your date of registration with us. If you are transferring from a foreign higher education institution, then it is your responsibility to terminate your previous student status once you have registered at Corvinus.
