Lab of Geopolitics

The Lab of Geopolitics was created in December 2021 within the Department of Geography, Geoeconomics, and Sustainable Development. It consists of a research team of academics devoted to geopolitics as a scientific approach to International Relations. At the moment, the team is constituted by Dr. Géza Salamin, Dr. Márton Péti, Dr. Tamás Baranyi, Dr. Viktor Eszterhai, and PhD student László Gere, and is coordinated by Dr. Nuno Morgado.

Risk Management of Central Clearing Counterparties workshop

Department of Finance (organizers: Edina Berlinger, Barbara Dömötör, Kata Váradi) in collaboration with PRMIA Hungary Chapter and colleagues of the Hungarian Central Counterparty (KELER CCP Ltd.) organized a one-day online workshop on 24th September on the risk management of central counterparties. The aim of the workshop was to bring together professionals from academia and practice, to discuss the challenges of central clearing from a broader perspective, to identify potential research questions, and to enhance cooperation.

Multifunctional afforestation on private land

Researchers of the Water Policy Hub at REKK, Gábor Ungvári and András Kis, lead one of the special sessions at the LAND4FLOOD COST Action Final Conference on 27 January 2022. The closing event of the 4-year European research collaboration concluded on key results and highlighted themes for future cooperation. Discussion at the special session called “Forest-Lands4Floods” focused on an under-researched topic the foundations of which have already been laid within the LAND4FLOOD cooperation

MASS international research online exhibition and publication

The AMASS research group of the Institute of Communication and Sociology at the Corvinus University of Budapest presents its results at international exhibitions in Malta and Finland. In addition, horizon2020 research projects are presented in virtual exhibitions, conferences and study books in 2021-2022.

PRMIA Hungary Chapter Research Conference

The Professional Risk Managers' International Association and Corvinus University of Budapest, Finance Department organized the 6th Research Conference on Risk Management, where the local research institutes presented their latest results in the framework of a one-day online academic conference

World Finance and Banking Symposium Conference

The Corvinus University of Budapest had the honor to host the World Finance & Banking Symposium conference on 17-18th December 2021. Besides hosting the event, the colleagues and students of the Corvinus also helped organizing the event. The chair of the conference was Joao Vieito from Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal, while the co-chair was Kata Váradi from Corvinus, Department of Finance.

Successful accreditation of the doctoral schools by The Hungarian Accreditation Committee

Pursuant to the decision of the Plenum of The Hungarian Accreditation Committee (MAB), the doctoral schools of the Corvinus University of Budapest have been accredited for another 5 years. Therefore, the Doctoral School of Business and Management, the Doctoral School of Economics, Business and Informatics, the Doctoral School of International Relations and Political Science, and the Doctoral School of Sociology and Communication Science can continue their activities until 2027.

Research fellows of the spring semester in academic year 2021/22

During the spring semester two junior and five senior fellows will join the CIAS team. Péter Vida from France, Federico Pachetti from Italy and Grzegorz Leszczyński from Poland have already arrived to Budapest.
