For his dedicated work for the university community, András Becsei was the first recipient of the Alumni of the Year Award in the category of Professional Excellence this summer. We spoke with the Deputy CEO of OTP Bank Retail about the importance of staying connected to his alma mater, his university years, his career beginnings, and the skills that can help a young finance graduate stand out on today’s job market.

For nearly sixty years, Corvinus has been an integral part of his life—first as a student, later as a lecturer. Over more than half a century, he has taught in undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and postgraduate programs, and many of his former students are now recognized experts and educators in the field of marketing. In addition, generations have studied and continue to study from the marketing books written by József Berács and his co-authors.

How does an originally rather expensive kayaking and canoeing city tour in Copenhagen turn into a free experience if participants agree to collect floating litter from the water along the way? What do visitors, locals, and the environment gain from this? We spoke with Balázs Kovács, leading Hungarian expert on the “new tourism” approach — an increasingly emphasized subject in Corvinus University’s Tourism Development Manager/Economist program, where he also teaches as a visiting lecturer — about the potential of this innovative perspective.
