Twelve colleagues received their academic appointment certificates

Congratulations to our promoted colleagues, whose professional profiles can be read in the article below.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

At Corvinus, it has long been a tradition to celebrate our colleagues’ academic advancements, the arrival of new faculty and researchers, and the appointment of new  Professor Emeriti. Last year’s annual certificate ceremony  took place in October, where a total of 59 academic staff members received honorary certificates.  

Starting last November, the University has introduced a new tradition for awarding certificates: newly appointed colleagues are now welcomed each month during the Senate meeting. This allows the University leadership to personally congratulate them immediately following their appointment.  

At the most recent session, we celebrated the promotions of the following colleagues.  

Róbert Imre Csehi – Associate Professor (Institute of Social and Political Sciences) 

He is a member of the Department of Political Science at Corvinus and the Director of the Political Science Doctoral Program. He earned his PhD at CEU, after which he worked as a researcher and lecturer at Technical University of Munich (TUM) in Munich. His research focuses on comparative politics, European integration, and populism. His publications have appeared in leading academic journals (e.g., West European Politics, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of European Public Policy, Democratization). His co-authored article on Eurosceptic populism is the most cited article in the Q1 journal European Politics and Society. His monograph, The Politics of Populism in Hungary (Routledge, 2021), is a significant contribution to the study of populism in Central and Eastern Europe. Her engagement in the scientific community is significant: he organizes research seminars and the “Political Economy Club” series. In 2025, he received the Corvinus Research Excellence Award.  

Gábor János Dudás – Senior Lecturer II (Institute of Accounting and Law)  

In 2018, he joined Corvinus University of Budapest as an assistant professor. He earned his degree and PhD at the University of Szeged. At Corvinus, he currently teaches economic public law, law and IT, media law and media ethics, as well as public procurement law. His research focuses on data protection and artificial intelligence, as well as data asset management. He gained professional experience at several law firms and also contributed to the work of the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (NAIH) before founding his own law firm. He is an active publisher in the fields of data protection and public procurement law. His work has been recognized with several professional awards, including the NAIH Silver Medal in 2020 and the Corvinus Teacher of the Year Award in 2021. 

Nóra Ágota Felföldi-Szűcs – Associate Professor (Institute of Finance) 

In 2021, she joined Corvinus University again as a full-time assistant professor. She is currently the head of the Department of Corporate Finance and a member of the Institute Council. She obtained both her master’s degree in economics (2006) and her PhD (2013) at Corvinus. Her research interests include corporate financeand market efficiency. Her most recent projects explore market inefficiency in cryptocurrency options and the role of gold in financial bubbles. She is a co-author of several publications in Q1/D1 and Q2 journals. She plays a key role in the development of English-language finance courses for undergraduate programs and in the application of gamification in education. She launched the Teaching Camp program at her Institute, which supports the teaching methodological development of the colleagues. 

Evelin Horváth – Assistant Professor (Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences) 

She is working at the Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University and the Head of the Media Studio. She obtained her BA, MA, and PhD degrees (2025) at Corvinus University, where she began her teaching work in 2019. Her research focuses on visual communication, with particular attention to image and video manipulation, CGI technologies, AI-based content generation, and human–nonhuman relationships.  Her publications have appeared in Hungarian and international journals, including Information Society, and she has also authored several book chapters in her field of research. Between 2020 and 2023, she was a researcher in the CGI–Deepfake Research Group and was awarded a scholarship from the New National Excellence Program. She is a member of the International Communication Association (ICA) and the Hungarian Association of Journalists (MÚOSZ). 

Virág Ilyés – Assistant Professor (Institute of Data Analytics and Informatics) 

She obtained her BA and MA degrees at Eötvös Loránd University, and completed her doctoral studies at the Doctoral School of Sociology and Communication Science at Corvinus University of Budapest. She joined the NeTI Lab and the ANET Lab (CERS) research groups in 2021, where her work focuses on network analysis, labor economics, and sociology. Previously, she worked as a data analyst and contributed to several projects involving automated text analysis, machine learning, and data visualization. She has published in leading international journals (e.g. Economics of Education Review, Journal of Economic Geography), authored multiple book chapters, and has received several professional awards, including the Junior Prima Award and the Corvinus Research Excellence Award. 

Emese Kovács – Assistant Professor (Institute of Economics) 

Since 2022, she has been teaching at Corvinus University of Budapest, having previously supported the institution as an intern. She completed her bachelor’s studies at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and her master’s and doctoral studies at Corvinus University of Budapest. Her research focuses on health economics and demographic processes, with particular emphasis on the economic aspects of mortality and ageism. She has published in several international journals (e.g. Acta Oeconomica, Regional Science Policy & Practice) and served as a reviewer for Acta Oeconomica between 2022 and 2024. In recent years, she has presented her work at numerous prestigious academic conferences. 

Norbert Kozma – Lecturer I (Institute of Accounting and Law) 

Since 2020, he has been working at the university’s Institute of Accounting and Law, where he teaches financial and managerial accounting, with a particular focus on the accounting of insurance companies and financial institutions. His research interests include insurance accounting, risk reporting, as well as sustainable finance and the accounting aspects of ESG. He is the author of several academic publications, and his teaching was recognized with the “Teacher of the Year” award in 2025. He plays an active role in curriculum development and digital teaching innovations. Prior to his academic career, he gained substantial professional experience in the financial sector, particularly in banking and insurance. 

Daniela-Sabina Schnell – Associate Professor (Institute of Social and Political Sciences) 

She is a member of the Institute of Social and Political Sciences at Corvinus and a member of the editorial board of Public Administration Review, the leading journal in the field. She holds a PhD in Public Policy and Administration from The George Washington University, and a MA in Development Policy from the University of Bremen. Her research focuses on transparency, open government, anti-corruption, and democratic governance, exploring how public values are reflected and enacted at multiple levels of governance. She has published 11 international peer-reviewed journal articles, including five in D1 and four in Q1 journals such as Governance, Public Administration Review, Public Administration and Development, and Perspectives on Public Management and Governance. She is also the author of several book chapters, policy reports, and studies on public sector reform. 

Péter Ádám Szentesi – Assistant Professor (Institute of Operations and Decisions Sciences) 

He has been teaching at the university since 2018 and is currently a staff member and PhD student at the Department of Decision Theory within the Institute of Operations and Decisions. His research focuses on decision-making, motivation, and gamification, with particular emphasis on human-centered process development and educational innovation. He is the author of numerous domestic and international publications. In his teaching, he places special emphasis on experiential and digital methods, including a business simulation game he developed himself. He is actively involved in talent development and mentoring students. In addition, he has over a decade of senior management experience in the international corporate sector and is currently the financial director of Kifli.hu. 

Rita Tóth – Assistant Professor (Institute of Strategy and Management) 

Since 2018, she has been working at the Institute of Strategy and Management, and is currently a member of the Department of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Development. Her doctoral research focuses on the role of play and playfulness in organizations, with particular attention to leadership role transitions in family businesses during succession processes. Her current research interests include role transitions in family firms, the role of playful social interactions in organizational resilience, and regenerative leadership practices. She is the author of numerous international and Hungarian publications, including articles in journals such as the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior & Research and the European Management Journal. In her teaching, she focuses on the development of communication and leadership competencies, as well as topics related to organizational behavior and human resource management. In 2024, she received the Corvinus Research Excellence Award. In addition, she has over 10 years of experience in organizational and leadership development, training, and coaching. 

Zsófia Vetőné Mózner – Associate Professor (Institute of Sustainable Development) 

She earned both her degree (2009) and her PhD (2013) at Corvinus, and joined the institution’s teaching and research community in 2009. Her research focuses on sustainable consumption, environmentally conscious behavior, and carbon accounting. She publishes her results in leading Q1/D1 international journals (e.g. Climate Policy, Journal of Cleaner Production), with more than 450 citations to her work. She actively contributes to curriculum development at Corvinus, including the design of several new master’s level courses (e.g. Environmental Economics and Policy, Circular Economy – Challenges and Business Solutions). She is a member of the Sustainability Subcommittee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and of the International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS). 

Johannes Wachs – Senior Research Fellow and Head of the CIAS CCL (Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies) 

In 2023, he joined Corvinus University as an associate professor. Currently, he is a researcher at CIAS and the program director of the MSc in Social Data Science at Corvinus. His research focuses on the digital economy and its economic geography, including how people build software together, how AI is transforming knowledge work, and the role geography plays in these processes. His recent study, published in Science this year, demonstrates the rapid global diffusion of AI in software development and shows that experienced developers capture most of the productivity benefits. As Director of the Center for Collective Learning (CCL), he aims to strengthen the group’s impact on digital economy topics and expand its international reach.
