More than 800 new graduates join the Corvinus alumni network

On 19–20 March, we held our mid-year graduation ceremonies in the atrium of Building E, where more than 800 students received their diplomas. From now on, we are proud to welcome them into the university’s alumni community. At the ceremonies, five of our successful alumni also addressed the graduates with celebratory speeches.

Over the course of two days, diplomas were awarded at five graduation ceremonies to students who completed their studies in the mid-year term. Altogether, 880 students graduated during these two days, having completed bachelor’s, master’s, or postgraduate specialist programmes at Corvinus. Before the ceremonies, we also welcomed our newest alumni members with Corvinus-themed gifts.

It has now become a tradition at Corvinus that accomplished alumni deliver speeches to fresh graduates on behalf of the alumni community during our graduation ceremonies. The invited keynote speakers at this year’s mid-year graduations also shared personal insights on the labour market, career building, and finding one’s path.

Ádám Tasnádi, co-founder of the brands This is Redy and SodaStage, graduated from Corvinus in 2013 with a degree in International Business. He was featured on Forbes’ “30 successful Hungarians under 30” list and was also included in the magazine’s “100 self-made Hungarians” ranking. In his speech, he illustrated through the dilemmas he faced while building his company that truly good career decisions are those that, in the long run, do not require compromising one’s values.

Gergely Márkus, Country Manager of Mastercard for Hungary and Slovenia, highlighted the importance of resilience and adaptability for graduates. At the final ceremony on Thursday, keynote speaker Kamilla Strausz, co-founder of InnoMaker Partners, which focuses on developing early-stage startups, shared three pieces of advice with graduates: “Experiment… talk to a wide variety of people… and learn quickly from your mistakes.”

The following day, at the graduation ceremony for English-language programmes, Fadi Shadeh, manager at HIPA, welcomed the graduates. He shared several valuable personal insights from his career, including the importance of setting personal boundaries, continuously building connections, and defining for ourselves—rather than letting others define—what success means in our own career paths.

At the afternoon ceremony for postgraduate specialist programmes, Klára Pethő, HR professional and Country Manager of Reed Hungary, demonstrated through recent corporate examples the potential impact of the spread of artificial intelligence on the labour market, and how business excellence can help us stay ahead of these changes.

We once again congratulate our graduates on earning their degrees and warmly welcome them to the Corvinus alumni community!
