The University Research Scholarship Programme (EKÖP) 2026/2027 is now open

Corvinus University of Budapest has launched the University Research Scholarship Programme (EKÖP) for the 2026/2027 academic year.

Applications can be submitted between 6 May 2026, 16.00 and 2 June 2026, 16:00. 

The programme supports the next generation of academic lecturers and researchers in higher education, contributes to the research and development talent pipeline of innovative Hungarian enterprises, and helps involve the most talented students in university-level talent development. 

EKÖP is open to applicants in bachelor, master and doctoral programmes, as well as to young lecturers and researchers carrying out successful research or creative work at Corvinus. 

The planned budget for scholarships in the 2026/2027 academic year is HUF 166,431,593. 

Main application categories and scholarship amounts: 

1. Bachelor programme 

Scholarship: HUF 125,000/month; available duration: 5 or 10 months. 

2. Master programme 

Scholarship: HUF 150,000/month; available duration: 5 or 10 months. 

3. Doctoral programme 

Scholarship: HUF 180,000/month; available duration: 5 or 12 months. 

4. Young lecturer/researcher 

Scholarship: HUF 200,000/month; available duration: 12 months. 

Applications must be submitted individually. Applicants must be under the age of 45 and have outstanding scientific, professional or academic results. In duly justified exceptional cases, an exemption from the age limit may be granted. 

Key eligibility conditions by category: 

Bachelor programme: active student status in one of the supported bachelor programmes, a credit-weighted academic average of at least 4.00, and a supervisor employed by Corvinus. 

Master programme: active student status in one of the supported master programmes, a credit-weighted academic average of at least 4.00, a previous TDK paper presented at a TDK conference, and a supervisor employed by Corvinus. 

Doctoral programme: active full-time doctoral student status in one of the supported doctoral schools. 

Young lecturer/researcher: teaching and/or research activity at one of the institutes or research centres of Corvinus, doctoral absolutorium or a doctoral degree obtained within the last 5 years, a Corvinus employment or other work-related legal relationship during the scholarship period, and appropriate publication performance. 

What do scholarship holders commit to? 

Scholarship holders carry out research under the supervision of a supervisor (independently in the young lecturer/researcher category), participate in the institutional EKÖP conference, contribute to student catch-up and talent development activities, and promote the results of their research. 

Depending on the category, further commitments may include preparing and presenting a TDK paper, presenting results at a domestic or international conference, submitting a publication, developing an application or software solution that enables the practical use of research results, or participating in a research, development or innovation proposal. 

Required basic documents: 

The application package includes the research plan, the application form, the applicant declaration, the supervisor declaration, and a professional CV presenting the applicant’s scientific achievements. Depending on the category, additional documents may also be required, such as proof of academic results, TDK confirmation or a publication form. Documents must be submitted in PDF format. 

How to submit applications: 

The scholarship decisions will be made by 31 August 2026. For successful applicants, the scholarship period may start on 1 September 2026. 

Those interested in applying are encouraged to start preparing their research plan and the required declarations in time, and to consult their prospective supervisor.
