The latest issue of Budapest Management Review, October 2025

The monthly published Budapest Management Review is one of the most significant journals in the field of business, management, and organizational studies in Hungary, with a history of more than 55 years, ranked in the best, “A” category by the Hungarian Academy of Science, one star on ABS List 2024.

It is a general management journal, which includes studies on different aspects of organizations: structure, processes, and performance, and equally on cultural, behavioural, and technological subjects. Multidisciplinary research is highly valued and papers that draw on the perspective and theoretical background of sociology, psychology, economics, political science, or communicational studies – apart from that of business, management and organization science are also appreciated. 

Adapting to the habits of our readers and aiming for a more sustainable publishing model, we primarily distribute our journal digitally. Empirical study of the innovation performance of Hungarian application developers 

This study presents the first comprehensive analysis of the Hungarian app economy, examining 3,047 applications from 579 developers between 2015 and 2023. 

 

Csaba Kiss – Renátó Tóth – Attila Nagy – Ottó Benczenleitner – László Tóth 

Coach-athlete relationship and motivation, intention to change clubs and intention to leave the sport among players of Hungary ice hockey academies 

The authors’ research extends Coach-Athlete Relationship (CAR) research by investigating whether athletes can be classified into different profile groups based on these CAR dimensions and, if so, whether these profiles differ in their level of self-determination and whether they change clubs or leave the sport.

The impact of leadership style on SME performance 

The author aims to examine international literature from 2015 to 2022 and identify the most dominant leadership styles, along with empirical research to prospect their effects on SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) performance.

Resilience in the domestic and South Transdanubian hospitality sector  

In this study, based on research from COVID years, the adaptability of the hospitality sector in Southern Transdanubia is analysed, presenting possible development directions. 

 

– Károly Vizdák  
The potential of innovative teaching roles and the coaching approach in the development of entrepreneurial competences 

The author’s research was conducted with the involvement of lecturers and students of 13 Hungarian higher education institutions’ entrepreneurship development master’s programmes and seeks to find answers to the questions of what are the most important teaching roles in developing entrepreneurial competences, how lecturers in these programmes train themselves to be able to transfer their knowledge more effectively, and how the coaching approach can contribute to the development of entrepreneurial competences.
