Future-oriented public governance is a topic of growing relevance not only in Hungary, but across the globe. Addressing complex societal challenges—from climate change to digital transformation—requires governments to rethink how policies are designed, implemented, and evaluated.

In this context, Prof. Hajnal György, Head of the Department of Public Policy at Corvinus University, plays an active role in shaping international debates. As a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (UN CEPA), he contributes to high-level discussions on improving governance systems worldwide.

Acting as Rapporteur of the Working Group on “Science, foresight, systems thinking, risk analysis and artificial intelligence for a future-oriented public administration,” Prof. Hajnal emphasized the importance of strengthening the science–policy interface. His contribution highlights how incorporating diverse forms of knowledge—especially scientific evidence—into policymaking can significantly improve the effectiveness and resilience of public governance.

This perspective is closely aligned with broader global priorities. A key element of the United Nations’ governance agenda, and a central instrument for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, is strengthening governments’ capacity to generate, interpret, and apply relevant knowledge in policymaking. Enhancing these capacities is essential for developing more adaptive, evidence-informed, and future-ready public administrations.

Through such engagement, Corvinus University’s Department of Public Policy reinforces its position as a leading contributor to international policy discussions, bridging academic research and real-world governance challenges.
