Corvinus signs cooperation agreement with BKK

Corvinus University of Budapest and the Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK) have launched a new partnership that brings together the university’s academic expertise with BKK’s experience in sustainable urban development.

The agreement was signed on 21 November at the Corvinus Gellért Campus by Bruno van Pottelsberghe, Rector of Corvinus University, and Dávid Baranyai, Head of Corporate and Institutional Relations. BKK was represented by Andrea Sághy, HR Director, and András Bannert, Director for Operations Support and Development.

As part of the cooperation, BKK experts may join Corvinus courses as guest speakers, and students will be able to choose the company as a partner for their compulsory internships. BKK will also take part in the university’s career fair. The two organisations will hold regular knowledge-sharing meetings, and BKK will provide data for research and publications in line with data protection and confidentiality rules. The partnership also opens the door to specialised leadership training programmes (executive education).

According to Bruno van Pottelsberghe, Rector of Corvinus University:
“This agreement with the Centre for Budapest Transport shows how we can create a close, active link between academic knowledge and day-to-day corporate practice to enrich the learning experience of our students. This combination is one of the real strengths of Corvinus programmes. We are especially pleased that the cooperation focuses on urban public transport, as we believe that responsible urban development and an environmentally aware mindset must play a key role in the thinking of future professionals.”

Andrea Sághy, HR Director at BKK, highlighted the importance of involving young people:
“The future of transport is being shaped today by the students who are learning, researching and exploring new solutions. If we can involve them in improving Budapest’s transport system, we not only support the next generation of experts but also work together for a more liveable and sustainable city.”

András Bannert, BKK’s Director for Operations Support and Development, underlined the value of data-driven decision-making and innovation:
“Analysing and optimising the complex systems behind urban transport is part of our daily work. This requires a solid understanding of data, the use of new technologies and a scientific approach. Our agreement with Corvinus strengthens this connection. Research and practice meet directly, allowing decisions that shape the city’s operation to rely on real, data-based insights — whether in traffic management or strategic planning.”

Corvinus University continues to expand its network of partners so that students gain up-to-date, practical knowledge, while joint work in education, research and sustainable economic development leads to results that make a real difference in society.
