Driving Change Together: Introducing the Corvinus Changemakers Network

With the participation of 11 student organisations and colleges for advanced studies, the Corvinus Changemakers network has been launched to connect student communities committed to sustainability.

In September 2025, a new initiative was introduced at Corvinus University of Budapest. The Changemakers network was established with the support of the Sustainability Dean’s Office to strengthen the University’s sustainability efforts and create a shared platform for active student communities.

The network currently brings together representatives of student organisations, colleges for advanced studies, and staff members of the Dean’s Office. Together, they work to ensure that sustainability initiatives are not carried out in isolation but instead reinforce one another.

One of the core missions of Changemakers is to build connections between organisations and students, enabling them to achieve greater impact through joint projects.

The initiative is open to all student organisations and colleges for advanced studies that are already committed to sustainability or wish to strengthen their sustainability activities. As a result, the network is continuously expanding with new members and ideas.

From shared thinking to joint action

During the autumn semester, the activities of Corvinus Changemakers focused primarily on planning and defining common directions. Participants jointly explored which projects would be most valuable to implement and where collaboration could lead to greater impact. This process revealed several key areas where members can work together effectively.

One of the first tangible outcomes of this collaboration is the organisation of a charity clothes swap event, which will take place again on 29 April 2026 following its success in the previous academic year. In addition, two main focus areas were identified: first, how to engage students more effectively through sustainability-related programmes and initiatives; and second, how joint projects can contribute to the University’s long-term sustainability goals.

Workshops also provided an opportunity to reflect together with students on how the University—through the Sustainability Dean’s Office—can support student initiatives in the future, ranging from promotion and mentoring to potential financial support.

An open community with a shared impact

Although the Changemakers network is still in its early stages, it already demonstrates strong potential for impactful collaboration between organisations. The long-term goal is to implement an increasing number of joint projects that contribute in a tangible way to making Corvinus more sustainable.

Current members of the Changemakers network:

The initiative is open to any student organisation or college for advanced studies interested in sustainability. We also warmly welcome all students and staff who would like to contribute—because real change is achieved through shared thinking and collective action.
