Corvinus University of Budapest has received international professional recognition by being selected for the 2026–2027 PRME Champion Cohort, awarded by the international secretariat of the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). The United Nations–supported global initiative aims to encourage higher education institutions to shape their education, research and societal engagement activities around sustainability, responsible leadership and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The network includes more than 800 business and economics higher education institutions worldwide.

Dr. Katalin Ásványi, Dean for Sustainability at Corvinus University, described the PRME Champion status as a significant milestone. “In recent years, we placed special emphasis on integrating sustainability principles into both education and research. This recognition not only validates the value of our past work, but also provides an opportunity to further strengthen the role of responsible and sustainable economic thinking within the international community,” said the dean, adding that this title can also serve as an inspiration for members of the university community.

What is the PRME Champion status?

The PRME Champion title is a distinguished professional recognition awarded by PRME to institutions and faculties that:

  • integrate sustainability and the principles of responsible leadership at a strategic level,

  • implement innovative educational and research practices,

  • actively contribute to the development of the PRME international community,

  • and serve as role models for other institutions at both regional and global levels.

PRME Champion institutions participate in the programme for a two-year cycle (2026–2027), during which they play an active role in shaping PRME initiatives, professional collaborations and knowledge-sharing activities.

Why did Corvinus receive this recognition?

Corvinus University of Budapest’s selection as a PRME Champion was supported by several key professional achievements, including:

  • the deep integration of sustainability and the SDGs into its educational programmes,

  • community engaged learning (CEL) initiatives implemented in cooperation with community and corporate partners,

  • research and educational activities related to CSR, ESG and responsible management,

  • as well as the university’s active international and regional engagement within the PRME network.

What does this mean for the next two years?

As a PRME Champion, Corvinus will:

  • participate in the strategic professional work of PRME,

  • share its best practices at international forums,

  • contribute to the education of the next generation of sustainable and responsible leaders,

  • and further strengthen the role of the Central and Eastern European region within the global PRME community.

This recognition not only validates the university’s achievements so far but also opens new opportunities for Corvinus to shape the future of responsible business thinking on an international level.
