18 students gain insight from leading professionals in the OTP–Corvinus mentoring programme

The joint mentoring programme organized by Corvinus University of Budapest and OTP Bank is launching for the fifth time, with 18 mentor-mentee pairs participating this year. Interest in the programme has been growing year after year: more than 5 students applied this semester, and from among them, 18 were selected to learn from OTP Bank’s leading professionals over the coming months.

The goal of the mentoring programme is to provide Corvinus students in bachelor’s and master’s programmes in economics and finance with practical experience, personalised career support, and long-term professional connections. During the programme, students will work with their mentors for four months: together they will set professional and career goals, receive feedback on their progress, and gain insight into the day-to-day operations of the bank.

Several experienced executives and professionals from OTP Bank take part in the programme, sharing not only their professional expertise but also their leadership and career experience with students. Many of them are former Corvinus students who now return to the university to support current students.

In recent years, the mentoring programme has become a key component of Corvinus’s talent development initiatives, serving as a bridge between university studies and the realities of business life.

“It is of paramount importance to Corvinus University that our students not only leave the university with a high level of theoretical knowledge, but also gain real, practical experience. The OTP and Corvinus mentoring programme plays a key role in this, forming a genuine bridge between university studies and the day-to-day realities of business life.” – emphasized Judit Nagy, representing Corvinus University of Budapest.

The mentoring programme offers a unique opportunity for current leaders to pass on to future leaders all the experience they have gained throughout their careers—whether it concerns professional decisions, career building, or leadership perspectives. At the same time, this encounter with the younger generation is inspiring for us as leaders: it is important for us to understand how they think, what values shape their vision of the future, and how they view the world of work,” said Gábor Galovics, Regional Head of OTP Bank’s Budapest Region.

Based on experience to date, the professional relationships formed during the mentoring programme often continue even after the programme ends, and it has already opened up career opportunities in the financial sector for several participants. The programme thus not only supports the students’ development but also contributes to strengthening the next generation of professionals in the long term.
