The integration of AI into military operations represents one of the most pressing challenges facing the law of armed conflict today. This lecture explores the legal dimensions of military AI through the lens of current controversies that are reshaping warfare and exposing gaps in existing legal frameworks, including the use of AI in recent conflicts and the growing deployment of AI decision support systems in contemporary military operations. The lecture will consider to what extent the current legal framework remains adequate to address the legal challenges posed by military AI systems.

The talk will be moderated by Tamás Hoffmann (Department of International Relations, Institute of Global Studies, Corvinus University of Budapest).

IR TALKS is a series of guest and roundtable talks organised by the Department of International Relations at Corvinus University to make sense of the world we live in at a time of turbulent international politics.
