Organised by the Centre for International Higher Education Studies, Corvinus University of Budapest.

Published in December 2024, the 600-page volume titled Felsőoktatás-menedzsment kézikönyv (Higher Education Management Handbook) comprises 19 chapters and focuses on the practical issues of university leadership and everyday institutional management.

The handbook aims to offer a clear and accessible overview of how the higher education sector and universities operate, highlighting their unique characteristics and management challenges. Its authors present foundational knowledge, widely known models, and system-level interrelations across the various topics covered, and where possible, offer practical guidance based on these insights.

Topics include university missions, organisational culture, governance, strategy development, performance management, third mission activities, as well as teaching and learning management, internationalisation, and student services.

The handbook is intended as a resource for anyone in leadership or decision-making roles in higher education, whether working at the institutional or policy level, and in either academic or administrative positions. It may also serve as a valuable guide for newcomers to the higher education sector, as well as for leaders who have had to acquire management knowledge through experience. The book aspires to support decision-makers in better understanding institutional processes and navigating the ever-changing higher education landscape more effectively.

The launch event will feature a live discussion with the editor and authors, who are active in higher education as researchers, current or former university leaders, consultants, and professional developers.
