Frequently Asked Questions

Minimum 3 characters required
What documents are required for enrolment?

The list of documents may vary by faculty, but you will receive accurate information in an official notice following successful admission. In addition to your identity documents (ID card, address card and tax ID), you will certainly need your school certificates (secondary school leaving certificate or, in the case of a master's degree, diploma) and their copies.

When and how can I enrol?

Once you have been admitted, you will receive an e-mail and a letter about the exact place and time of enrolment, which will take place during the registration week prior to the start of the semester. You will become an official student of the university by presenting the required documents in person and completing some forms; however, if you are unable to come in on the given day, you can authorise someone to proceed on your behalf by signing an official document downloaded from the website.

I applied for a scholarship at the time of my admission, but it failed. In this case I no longer have access to free education?

If you fail to qualify for the first free position but you have been admitted to Corvinus, you will be eligible to apply for the Corvinus Scholarship again in the subsequent year within the framework of reclassification, based on your academic performance. Those who are not eligible for free education can apply for state-funded, interest-free pre-financing through the Student Loan Centre.

Are there open days at the university?

Yes, and we look forward to seeing you there. During the Faculty Open Days you can ask your questions, meet our instructors, and get a taste of Corvinus.

How shall I prepare for the entrance examination?

In addition to individual learning, we strongly encourage you to take part in the preparatory courses organised by your own school or BCE.

What subject do I need to take a secondary school leaving exam in if I want to study at Corvinus?

Corvinus School of Economics: compulsory advanced secondary school leaving exam in mathematics and economics or history or a foreign language* or a sectoral vocational secondary school leaving exam subject** or a vocational preparatory subject***

Faculty of Social Sciences and International Relations: (must choose two) Hungarian or mathematics or social science or history or a foreign language*

*foreign language: English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish

**sectoral vocational secondary school leaving exam subject: computer science, commerce, economics, tourism, administration, catering

*** Vocational preparatory subject: basic knowledge in commerce and marketing, basic knowledge in economics (theoretical economics), basic knowledge in economics (business economics), basic knowledge in hospitality and tourism

What are the most important admission requirements?

From 2020 the admission rules will be stricter: admission will be subject to a minimum of B2, i.e., intermediate level language exam, and an advanced level secondary school leaving certificate in at least one subject.

So, there will be no extra points next year if a student has an advanced level secondary school leaving certificate in a subject. The 50 extra points are awarded for the second advanced examination, but only if the subject is compulsory or optional. Another pre-requisite for the extra points is that at least 45 percent of the exam requirements are met.

How do I apply?

If you wish to apply for the Corvinus Scholarship, mark "A" form of financing when filling in the 2020 application form. If you reach the score defined by the university for this form of funding during the admission procedure, you will automatically become eligible for the scholarship.

If you plan to apply for a self-financed programme, choose the "K" form of financing.

How long and under what conditions am I eligible for the Corvinus Scholarship?

Once in each academic year the University reviews the eligibility criteria for the scholarship based on the performance of the last two active semesters in which you did not participate in an Erasmus+ funded foreign exchange programme or internship.

The reviewers look at your annual academic results (at least 3.8 average is required), the number of credits you have obtained (minimum 46 credits), and your academic and student organisation activities. A student ranking order is established for each programme, so the best students are granted scholarship for the next two semesters.

What is a Corvinus Scholarship?

It is a performance-based scholarship, similar in many aspects to the state-funded form of education known to date as it includes the cost of the training, but does not cover, e.g., foreign language contributions, housing and subsistence costs during the studies. The main difference is that it is not provided automatically until the studies are completed. The leadership of the university defines the requirements: the number of credits are required and the academic results required from the scholarship students.
