Starting your mobility

Please read our Entering Hungary Guide to check what entry requirements apply to you based on your citizenship. You can find useful information on the whole process here, while the list of Hungarian Embassies and Consulates abroad can also be accessed here.

If you require a visa to enter Hungary, the earliest you can hand in your visa request for the purpose of studies is 3 months prior to your planned date of arrival. Before handing in your visa request, we very much recommend that you check out the website of the Hungarian Consulate in your country to know what documents will be required. Please also make sure that your travel document (Passport or personal ID) will be valid for at least 3 months after your planned date of departure!

Corvinus University will provide you with a Letter of Acceptance to show that you are coming for study purposes. Please note, however, that we will not be able to certify any accommodation for you. It is your responsibility to arrange temporary accommodation for at least 5-10 days for when you arrive. Once here, you will be able to arrange for long term accommodation (please check out our Housing Guide on important information and tips).

Special entry requirements for foreign nationals during the COVID-19 health emergency situation

At the moment, while the coronavirus health emergency is in effect in Hungary, a Police Equity approval is required for all foreign nationals to enter Hungary. If this regulation continues to be in effect at the time you plan to arrive – as in all probability it will be, make sure to hand in a police equity request at least a week before travelling to Hungary. When preparing the police equity request, you will need to be able to give the date of entry and the border station you will be using to enter Hungary. A step by step guide on how to fill in and submit a Police Equity Form is available here. To find daily updated information on the status of the Coronavirus pandemic situation in Hungary, please check the official website of the Hungarian Government.

Preparing for the semester (before you leave home)

Medication

  • If you’re on regular medication, you need to make sure that you have enough prescribed medicine for the whole semester. This is important as some medications might not be available here in the EU/Hungary (or they may be sold under a different name and may possibly have slightly different ingredients) and it is important you have the correct medicine with you and the right amount.
  • If you plan to have some medicine delivered to you later the semester – please keep in mind that if your medication is not permitted in the EU, it will not be allowed in the country (your package would be upheld at customs until the required documents are presented – this could be a really long process).
  • Consult with your physician!
  • Ask your doctor/counselor how else you should be preparing yourself for your trip? (E.g. Will your doctor be available on the phone if needed? What does your doctor think what you should do if you don’t feel well? etc.). Make sure that you come here with a strategy in case of the – hopefully unlikely – event that you don’t feel well. Sometimes it is just easier to think these through when you’re well. If you have any chronic illnesses, we suggest with you your medical history and a note from your doctor on the type of medication you are using.

What can Corvinus do for you?

  • Special needs: If you have any illnesses or learning disabilities that may have any affect on your academic performance, Corvinus has the resources to provide most of the “common accommodations” Should you have any special needs, please write to disability@uni-corvinus.hu to check out what sort of documents you need to receive these same accommodations (if possible) during your studies at Corvinus.
  • Counseling services: Corvinus have counselors on staff (who are fluent in English) who can support you during difficult times.
  • Note though that our counselors are not qualified to prescribe any medications. In case you need to have someone prescribe you medicine we have a medical partner; Firstmed where students can go if they need medical attention. For this service though you’ll need to pay – that can later be reimbursed by your health insurance if your plan covers you for this service. Nevertheless, the best solution is still to have enough prescribed medicines with you.

Learning Agreement before and during the mobility

While we will sign the Before the mobility part of Learning Agreements sent in before the preliminary course registration has taken place, please note that we cannot and will not promise that you will be able to register for the courses listed in your LA. We suggest that unless necessary, you submit your LA Before the Mobility section only after the preliminary course registration period.

Any changes are made in your course registration as compared to the original „LA Before the mobility” after the final course registration period has ended at the beginning of the academic semester will require you to complete and have us confirm the „LA (Changes) During the mobility” part of your Learning Agreement. Both the LA Before the mobility and the LA Changes during the mobility parts will have to be signed by you, your home university coordinator and by your program coordinator at Corvinus. LA-s should be submitted filled in fully and already signed by you. Please make sure to double check that you have noted down the correct course codes and course titles!

In addition to getting the document(s) signed by your Corvinus program coordinator, you must also submit it as soon as possible to your home university. Your final registered course list MUST BE IDENTICAL both in Neptun and in the Before and/or During the mobility part of your LA.

If there is any discrepancy in the data in Neptun and in your LA or if the LA is not filled in properly, we will automatically send it back to you for correction.
