Sustainability Management

Doctoral Programme

The programme seeks scientific answers to the most pressing challenges of the 21st century, including climate change, digitalisation and social inequalities. We train researchers who, with fresh perspectives and strong methodological foundations, are able to guide the transition towards sustainability in the economy.

  • Focus areas: Our research addresses the transition to a carbon-neutral and circular economy, corporate ESG performance, as well as sustainable food systems and tourism.
  • Innovative approaches: We place particular emphasis on business ethics, responsible consumer behaviour and the societal impacts of technological innovation.
  • Methodological training: Students acquire the quantitative and qualitative techniques required for complex, transdisciplinary research.
  • Real-world impact: Our doctoral candidates can take part in international projects, working with decision-makers and professional organisations (NGOs) to drive meaningful change.
  • Career opportunities: Graduates become sought-after experts not only in academia, but also in international organisations and in senior sustainability roles within the corporate sector.

Our programme welcomes applicants to an inspiring research community with a wide range of diverse research topics.
