Religious Tourism, Wineries and Film Locations – The Thematic Issue of Turizmus Bulletin 2026/3

The research papers in the issue explore the diverse cultural, social and economic dimensions of tourism, ranging from the relationship between recreation and happiness to religious tourism, the role of wineries in event management, film tourism and the opportunities offered by historical heritage. 

Several contributions in this thematic issue focus on the tourism assets and development opportunities of Northeast Hungary. Alongside the Jewish religious heritage of Olaszliszka and the cultural and film tourism potential of Tokaj-Hegyalja and Bodrogköz, the issue also addresses sustainable event management and the tourism utilization of cultural heritage. 

The issue opens with a foreword by Nikolett Rozgonyiné Drotár introducing the thematic issue related to the Sárospatak conference.

The papers demonstrate from a variety of perspectives how local cultural, religious and natural assets can be transformed into tourism attractions, while also highlighting the role of innovation, sustainability and experience creation in destination development.
