Today we Celebrate International Biodiversity Day 2026

This year’s theme, “Acting locally for global impact”, highlights the importance of practical action and shared knowledge in protecting biodiversity.  

At the Sustainable Finance Research Centre (SFRC), we are committed to raising awareness of biodiversity finance and the funding mechanisms that can help direct capital towards nature-positive outcomes.  

To mark Biodiversity Day, our team has prepared four short videos exploring key sustainable finance funding mechanisms: Blended Finance, Natural Capital Financing Facility, Payments for Ecosystem Services, and Biodiversity Offsets. 

These mechanisms show how public, private, and innovative sources of finance can support biodiversity protection, ecosystem restoration, and nature-positive development.  

Through this video series, we aim to make biodiversity finance more accessible and demonstrate how sustainable finance can contribute to recognizing, funding, and protecting the value of nature.
