Journalists from Portfolio also attended the accounting escape room on Researchers’ Night

Journalists from Portfolio tried out the accounting escape room organised by the Institute of Accounting and Law at Corvinus University of Budapest during Researchers’ Night, which demonstrates the practical application of accounting in a playful way. Set against the background of a fictional story, participants had 45 minutes to resolve a predicament caused by the kidnapping of an accountant, using balance sheets, contracts, invoices and logic puzzles.
Mariann Jánny and Eleonóra Tarpataki, the programme’s creators, also spoke to the newspaper about the experience-based teaching method and their experiences in developing the programme. Now in its fourth year, the programme – which is available in both Hungarian and English – aims to make accounting more accessible to participants with varying levels of prior knowledge and to demonstrate that the subject is enjoyable to learn through practical problem-solving.
Portfolio published an article about this educational game.
