The Institute of Finance at Corvinus University of Budapest, together with the Game Theory Research Group of the ELTE Centre for Economic and Regional Studies, the Faculty of Economics at Eötvös Loránd University, and the Department of Finance at ESSEC Business School, is proud to host the 16th Annual Financial Markets and Liquidity (AFML) Conference.

Taking place from 1517 October 2025 at Corvinus University of Budapest, the event gathers leading academics, policymakers, and practitioners to explore new insights and challenges in financial markets, liquidity, and their broader societal implications. Corvinus faculty and Ph.D. students are invited to attend presentations free of charge, registering at the conference reception desk. However, lunches and coffee breaks are limited due to catering constraints.

This year’s conference features distinguished keynote addresses by Professor Jeffrey Pontiff (Boston College, Carroll School of Management) and Professor Andrea Vedolin (Boston University, Questrom School of Business), who will present on “A Century of Market Reversals: Resurrecting Volatility” and “Expectations in Asset Pricing”, respectively. In addition, the program includes several high-level special sessions on AI and Machine Learning, Climate Finance, Household Finance, and Mathematical Finance with Game Theory, featuring invited speakers from all over the world.

Over the three days, more than 200 participants will engage in plenary talks, parallel research sessions, and interactive Flash Talk presentations that showcase innovative studies across a broad spectrum of finance topics, from asset pricing, banking, and systemic risk to ESG investing, climate-related risks, and financial regulation. The event will also host an editorial plenary and pitching session on Wednesday evening (15/10), offering researchers a unique opportunity to interact with journal editors.

The organizing committee—Péter Csóka, Barbara Dömötör, András Fülöp, Zsuzsa Réka Huszár, Jiyuan (Justin) Huang, Lilla Judit Keresztúri, Anita Lovas, Helena Naffa, Emilia Németh-Durkó, and Admilson Veloso da Silva—extends its gratitude to all contributors, participants, and supporters. The 2025 AFML Conference is proudly sponsored by KELER CCP, Morgan Stanley, and the Scientific Mecenatura Grant of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKFIH), besides an internal grant from the Corvinus Workflow System, whose generous support continues to strengthen AFML’s role as a premier international forum for finance research and collaboration.
