About the position

The Institute of Strategy and Management announces an open call for applications for the Professor position for an indefinite period.

The starting date is autumn semester 2025, but some flexibility is possible.

The Institute of Strategy and Management at the Corvinus University of Budapest is a vibrant academic community with five departments, the candidate will join the Department of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Development. Faculty at OBHRD conducts multidisciplinary research inspired by multiple theoretical approaches that range from positivist to interpretive and critical paradigms and apply both qualitative and quantitative methods. Faculty is dedicated to engaged scholarship and student learning and teaches a wide range of courses within human resource management, organizational behaviour and organization theory. The University’s MSc. in Management and Leadership program has been ranked among the Financial Times’ best master’s in management programs for several years.

Job description and key duties:

Teaching duties:

  • Teaching of subjects belonging to the education portfolio of the Institute of Strategy and Management in weekly class hours as defined by the Academic Career Model.

Research duties:

  • Writing articles in prestigious international and national journals in the field of organization studies, inclusive organisations, leadership, identity and human resource development.
  • Participating at important international and domestic conferences, building international scientific relationships, getting involved in research projects, active research application activity in the field of Management and Organization Studies, Inclusive Organizations and Leadership, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Development; thus securing the resources of the research projects and contributing to the internationalisation of the Institute and the University.

Service duties

  • Active participation in the professional public life of the Institute of Strategy and Management and the University, performing service tasks determined by the head of the institute.
  • Supporting early-career academics at the university, including supervising PhD students as well as students participating in student competition.
  • Mentoring assistant professor and associate professor colleagues in the institute.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • PhD degree in any relevant discipline
  • Teaching and research experience in higher education: at least 10 years of experience gained in higher education
  • Experience in fulfilling course leader duties
  • Extensive publication track record in high-quality international peer-reviewed journals including top-journals in the area of organization studies/inclusive organizations / leadership / identity /organizational behaviour and human resource development
  • Teaching experience in English related to Organization Theory / Organizational Behaviour / Human Resource Management. Knowledge of Hungarian is not required.
  • Track record of successful PhD supervision in the field of Management and Organization Studies
  • Experience in leading or participating in international research projects and in successful applications for research grants

Desirable criteria:

  • Engaged scholarship in interpretative or critical organization studies, strong methodological knowledge in qualitative and/or participatory research
  • Feedback (student evaluation, evaluation of direct supervisor) verifying teaching excellence
  • Experience in the coordination of research groups with the involvement of doctoral students and young colleagues
  • Regular participation in international conferences, membership in international networks
  • Participation in the work of professional organisations
  • Editorial experience in high-quality international journals

Documents and certificates to be submitted as part of the application:

  • Curriculum Vitae including a detailed presentation of teaching, research and service activities and results
  • Cover letter, stating why the applicant wishes to be considered for this position and including future research plan (research to be carried out in the next two years)
  • Two reference letters written by reputable professors or researchers of the discipline (signed, scanned).
  • Scanned copies of the documents verifying the university degree, scientific rank (eg. PhD degree) and of the documents verifying other professional qualifications.
  • In case of university professor applicants who already have been appointed by the President of Hungary the document certifying this nomination shall be provided.
