Institute of Strategy and Management/ Department of Strategic Management  

Anikó Almási graduated from the Marketing programme of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Szeged. She worked in the competitive sector for twenty years, then obtained her summa cum laude PhD degree in the Doctoral School of the University of Szeged, as a member of the Economic Psychology Research Group. 

Her research subject is the organisational background of the competitiveness of the SME sector, with particular focus on corporate identity, management and strategy topics. She was involved in the work of the Institute of Strategy and Management as an external lecturer, than as an assistant lecturer. In 2021, she won the Lecturer of the semester – Székesfehérvár Campus prize.   

Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems/ Department of Information Systems 

Dr. َAsefeh Asemi is an assistant professor at the Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems at the Corvinus University of Budapest. Outside of her role at CUB, she is also doing research at the Doctoral School of Economics, Business, and Informatics. Her research areas of interest include Information Science, Information Systems, AI, IoT, IoB, HCI, and Digital Technologies in Business. Her recent focus is on Investment recommender systems. In particular, data analytics, machine learning, and fuzzy inference system concepts are applied to recommender systems to enable investor data analysis.

Asefeh began her second doctoral studies at the Doctoral School of Economics, Business, and Informatics at the Corvinus University of Budapest in 2018, where she was awarded the SH Scholarship award. She worked as a visiting scholar at the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and the University of Malaya, Malaysia before joining CUB. She received her first doctoral degree in 2007 from Pune University, India by defending her thesis subject: “Impact of Information Technology on the Medical Information Centers”, where she was awarded the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology scholarship award from Iran.  She joined the University of Isfahan, Iran as a full-time professor from 2007 until 2018 where she was awarded the best researcher and the best HoD several times. She currently upholds a high h index rank in the Department of Information Systems at the Corvinus University of Budapest where she was awarded the Research Excellence Award (CKK) for the second time.

Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences/Department of Marketing Management  

Zsombor Berezvai graduated from ELTE University, Economic Analysis master programme, then worked for Procter & Gamble as a financial manager. He started his doctoral studies in the Doctoral School of Business and Management, and got his degree in 2021. In the academic year of 2018/2019, he was the secretary of the Corvinus University Council for Students’ Scientific Associations (ETDT), and since then he has been a member of the ETDT Advisory Board. Since September 2019, he has been a senior economist of the Hungarian Competition Authority, and since July 2020, the head of the Competition Economics and Market Research Section. He is a member of the editorial board of the Competition and Regulation Almanac published by the KRTK Institute of Economics. His researches focus on various topics of competition policy, retail trade innovation, micro mobility, education economics and cultural tourism. Besides, he primarily teaches subjects of methodology, micro economy and market theory. 

Institute of Social and Political Sciences/Department of Sociology 

Ákos Bocskor graduated from Eötvös Loránd University as a Philologist and Teacher in English Language and Literature, obtained degrees at Corvinus University of Budapest in Social Sciences (BA) and Business and Management (BA) and at University of Szeged in Sociology (MA). He did his doctoral studies in Sociology at Corvinus University of Budapest and graduated with summa cum laude in 2021.  Since 2018 he worked at Corvinus at the Department of Sociology as an assistant lecturer and at the Centre for Social Sciences (until 2019 Hungarian Academy of Sciences Centre for Social Sciences) as a junior research fellow. He has been working as Assistant Professor and Research Fellow at the same workplaces since 2022.  

His research interests include the sociology of education, youth sociology and political sociology (political communication). He has published his research results in Hungarian and international peer-reviewed journals including Sociology and Youth & Society.  

Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation/Department of Business Economics  

Gábor Budai, following of his master degrees (mechanical engineer and engineer teacher), successfully defended his PhD thesis in 2018 in the ‘Education and Society’ Doctoral School of Education Science of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Pécs, in the Education-Sociology sub-programme. His main research area is the examination of the relations between vocational training and the labour market. From the early 2000s, he worked in a large company environment for more than ten years, as a logistics manager. Since 2014 he has been a lecturer of the University of Dunaújváros. He joined the educational and research work of the Department of Business Studies in 2018 as assistant professor. Beside teaching at the University, he is involved in fostering student talent among secondary school students. 

Institute of Sustainable Development/Department of Geography and Planning 

Tamás Czira graduated in geography and hydrology from ELTE in 1999 and got a degree in applied geoinformatics at the Technical University of Budapest in 2002. He received his PhD degree at the Doctoral School of Earth Sciences of ELTE in 2008 in the field of spatial environmental assessment.  

He started his professional career as a research assistant at ELTE, where he worked for almost 4 years teaching environmental and economic geography. From 2002 he was head of the coordination of spatial analysis in a state-owned economic company, at VÁTI Ltd. for 8 years. In 2012, he was involved in the establishment of the National Adaptation Centre, a climate policy background institute at the Hungarian Geological and Geophysical Institute, as a part-time research fellow. From 2017, he leaded the National Adaptation Centre of Mining and Geological Survey of Hungary as Head of Department, and from 2019 as Vice President for Earth Sciences and Climate Protection. Since 2022, he has been working full-time in his own environmental and geoinformatics consulting company.  

In February 2022, he joined Corvinus University of Budapest as a part-time senior lecturer, where he is mainly involved in developing and teaching courses in environmental planning and climate policy. He also lectures at ELTE and University of Debrecen. His main research topics are regional climate adaptation assessments, environmental and climate geoinformatics, geographic and climate challenges of renewable energies and climate vulnerability assessment of sectors. 

Institute of Strategy and Management/ Department of Strategic Management  

Adrienn Ferencz started her university career at Corvinus University of Budapest. In 2009, she obtained an excellent degree in the Business and Management programme, and in 2011 with distinction in the Organisations and Management programme. Following that, she joined the programme of the Doctoral School of Business Management. She defended her doctoral thesis in 2019. Already as a student, she joined the work of the Institute of Management of that time, as a demonstrator of the Department of Strategic Management. From 2011, she taught subjects related to organisations and management and strategy as a lecturer, first as a PhD student, than as assistant lecturer, in the bachelor and master programmes and in postgraduate programmes. Her research area is wide-ranging, first she researched the innovation activities of small and medium-size enterprises, then started to research the strategic aspects of organisational learning. 

Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences/Department of Marketing and Design Communications  

Daniella Dominika Galla obtained her BA degree at the Corvinus University of Budapest, in the trade and marketing programme, then completed the master programme at the Budapest Metropolitan University. After the market experience obtained during 10 years spent in media, marketing and agency areas, she started to work as a lecturer, which she defines as her profession. 

She got her PhD degree in October 2021 in the Doctoral School of Business and Management, in the Business Communication specialisation. Her doctoral research was determined by the exploration of the possibilities of applying creative education methodology assets, which determines her professional identity in every-day teaching practice, too, and in addition to education, the development of education is also close to her heart. Building on the methodology of design communication, she created a teaching methodology tool of her own development, to support the development of soft skills as part of the everyday teaching system. In her doctoral work, multidisciplinarity and immediate value creation enjoyed special importance.  

She thinks that as a university lecturer and researcher, continuous development is both an obligation and a possibility. Value creation is both a task and an experience. As a lecturer, it is essential to show a good example. Stability, consciousness, consistency, openness, creativity, kindness, flexibility, innovativeness. These are the most important characteristic features that describe her as a lecturer and researcher. Her key professional areas are marketing, marketing communication, design, branding, PR and sales. 

Institute of Strategy and Management/Department of Strategic Management 

Dóra Horváth obtained a doctoral degree at the Corvinus University of Budapest in 2022 with her thesis titled ‘Digital transformation and business model innovation: in the manufacturing industry, energy- and financial sectors’. During her doctoral studies, she published articles in several prestigious Hungarian and international journals, regularly presented her research results in scientific conferences, and as a visiting researcher, she did research work in the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai, Her main research areas are business model innovation, digital transformation, innovations in financial services. Dóra’s latest international publication was in the MIT Sloan Management Review of Q1 qualification, included in the Top 50 list of the Financial Times, with two co-authors: Prof. Ramon Casadesus-Masanell (Harvard Business School) and Prof. S. Ramakrishna Velamuri (Mahindra University).

Institute of Economics  

Péter Isztin first obtained a degree in law in 2010 at the Eötvös Lóránd University, then he graduated from the Corvinus University of Budapest in 2014, in the Applied economics programme. He obtained his doctoral degree in economics in 2022 at the Corvinus University.  

He has been employed by the university as assistant lecturer since 2018, first at the Department of Microeconomics, then, from 2019, in the Institute of Economics that was set up by merging the earlier departments.  

His teaching activities cover mainly subjects of macroeconomics. His research area is wide-ranging, he applies economics for a wide range of social phenomena and problems. Among others, he works on market theory, human capital, household and family economics and political economics. Although he regularly contributes to empiric studies, he considers himself as an economist of applied theory, with empiric inspiration.  

Institute of Social and Political Sciences/Department of Public Policy  

Iga Katarzyna Jeziorska graduated from the University of Warsaw in MA in Social Prevention and Resocialisation, followed by an MSc in Public Policy and Management at the Corvinus University of Budapest. She defended her PhD in Political Science at Corvinus in 2022. Her dissertation focused on the analysis of factors of policy performance based on drug harm reduction services in Central-Eastern Europe.  

Iga started teaching at Corvinus in 2016, and since 2020 she has been a part of the regular staff of the Public Policy and Management Department. Her area of teaching includes civil society and management of non-governmental organisations, policy evaluation, and academic writing. She has also been a visiting lecturer at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca where she delivered courses within the double degree programme.  

Iga’s research activities focus on drug policy, civil society-government relations, and illiberal transformation. Her works have been published in prestigious international journals and publishing houses, which was appreciated by rewarding her with the Corvinus Research Excellence Award in 2022.  

Iga has extensive practitioner experience, working in NGOs in the drug policy field since 2010. Since 2018, she has been a member of the Core Group of the Civil Society Forum on Drugs – an official advisory body to the European Commission, and a coordinator of the Working Group on NGOs in CEE at the Network of Schools and Institutes on Public Administration (NISPAcee).  

Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences/Department of Marketing and Design Communications 

Zita Komár graduated from Philosophy, then Communication and media science programmes, and following that, beside her doctoral studies, she worked as a marketing communication expert in the market sector. She started her academic career in 2013, in the Corvinus Doctoral School of Social Communication, where she held courses in English and Hungarian languages as an external lecturer, then she started to work for the Institute of Marketing, Department of Marketing and Design Communication, since 2016 as assistant lecturer, and since 2022 as assistant professor.  

Beside her teaching experiences obtained as a visiting lecturer of the Montpellier Business School, the ELTE University and the Metropolitan University, she regularly holds professional further training programmes and other trainings. As a result of her committed and innovative intellectual work, she has received several professional awards: New National Excellence Programme Scholarship (2017), Szilágyi Vilmos Award for Excellence (2018), Lecturer of the Year (2019).  

As a researcher committed to studying communication science more profoundly, her objective is the deep, creative and critical examination of persuasion methods, and the promotion of interdisciplinary dialogue. The topic of her doctoral thesis is an attempt of innovative spirit to lay the foundations of the concept of ‘soft rhetoric’. The significance of her research work is that she opens new areas for Hungarian communication research, creating the possibility of dialogues between disciplines. Zita Komár initiated the promotion of science communication practices in Hungary, widened the horizon of communication science, and represented it in professional and wider circles. 

Institute of Economics 

Izabella Kuncz graduated from the Corvinus University of Budapest, in the applied economics and economic analyst study programme, and got her PhD degree in 2020. Her research topic is growth theory and the macroeconomic impacts of demographic changes. She got involved in the activities of the Department of Macroeconomics already as a student, and from 2014 she worked at the University as assistant lecturer. So far she has taught mainly subjects related to macroeconomics. In 2016, her work was rewarded with the Lecturer of the Year award, and in academic year 2016/2017 with the Kenneth Rice Prize of the Corvinus University of Budapest. In 2019 she won the Lecturer of the Semester title awarded by the Student Union, as well as the Rector’s Certificate of Merit. 

Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems/Department of Statistics 

Marcell Tamás Kurbucz graduated from the Eötvös Lóránd University’s Economic Analysis Master Programme, then got his doctoral degree in the Department of Quantitative Methods of the University of Pannonia. Presently he is a research fellow of the Data and Compute Intensive Sciences Research Group of the Wigner Research Centre for Physics, where he primarily works on the development and application of machine learning methods and applied econometrics. His research topic in a narrow sense is the reduction and the analysis of the number of dimensions in large-dimension data sets.

Institute of Sustainable Development/Department of Sustainability Management and Environmental Economics  

András Márton graduated from Corvinus University of Budapest as economist in business administration and management (BSc), business development (MSc), and achieved PhD degree in futures studies at the Doctoral School of Economics and Business Informatics. He teaches futures research, forecast and foresight methods, and strategic management at Corvinus and other institutions as a guest lecturer, furthermore, he participated in several national and international researches, the results of which were published in top-ranked scientific journals. His main research topics are environmental sustainability, green energy, sustainable corporate and public strategies, and the future orientation of individuals and decision makers.  

Institute of Global Studies/Department of International Relations  

Tamás Matura is the Founder of the Central and Eastern European Center for Asian Studies. He has been working on Asia related issues for a decade, started his career as a research fellow of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs. He used to serve as an adviser on China to the Minister of National Economy, as an editor of the China Strategy of Hungary, and as an author of the BRICS Strategy of Hungary. Currently he serves as Assistant Professor at Corvinus University of Budapest and a founding member of the European Think Tank Network on China. Dr. Matura has been invited multiple times to deliver lectures and courses in foreign countries such as China, Poland, Lithuania and France. His research focuses on Chinese foreign policy, EU-China affairs and China-Central-Europe relations.  

Institute of Global Studies/Department of International Relations  

Dorottya Mendly obtained her BA degree in Political Science from Eötvös Loránd University in 2010, where she was also awarded an MA as an expert in International Relations in 2014. She began her doctoral studies at Corvinus University of Budapest in 2014, where she defended her thesis summa cum laude in 2020. During the years spent in the doctoral program and since then, she has been actively involved in scientific organization, from 2016 until mainly as a member of Karl Polanyi Research Center, which has been until recently affiliated with Corvinus University. The topic of her doctoral research was the theory of global governance, which she discussed critically, through an investigation based on the role of the UN Secretary General. With her research plan, in 2018, she won the Dissertation Award of the Academic Council on the United Nations System, a scientific organization that brings together UN experts. In the same year, with the support of the doctoral candidate scholarship of the New National Excellence Program (awarded in 2017), she participated in a study trip to the UN Headquarters in New York. The topic of her postdoctoral research is the functioning of the global food system, as well as the possible contributions of bioregional planning to the reform of the area. With this project, she won another New National Excellence scholarship in 2021, this time in a postdoctoral capacity. In the recent years, she has participated in the domestic food sovereignty movement through the work of numerous civil organizations, as well as her scientific work.

Institute of Strategy and Management/Department of Organisational Behaviour  

Anda Milassin has been with the Corvinus University of Budapest for more than 12 years, first as a student, and now as a lecturer. Her research area focuses on the communication and value differences that occur when cultures meet, and by exploring and explaining these differences, she wishes to assist organisations and employers in their efforts to better cooperate with and understand the other party. She defended her thesis titled ‘Interpretation of cultural disparities experienced in cross-cultural interaction in South Korean culture – from a Hungarian perspective’ in 2019. 

As a member of the Far-Eastern Management Research Centre and the Human Resource and Organisation Development and Culture Research Centre, she actively supports joint tenders and harmonised research with colleagues. As a recognition of her work as a university lecturer and related to the Organisations and Management study programme, she received the Lecturer of the Year Award in 2019. Apart from the theoretical skills required by the teaching activity, she is committed to obtaining practical experience, too. She is especially proud of her pro bono work, in which she offers organisation development advice to religious organisations, and mentors disadvantaged students. 

Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation/ Department of Enterprise Development and Management 

Endre Mihály Molnár graduated from the Corvinus University of Budapest in 2016, in the Finance programme, specialising in Corporate Finances. His financial analyst experience gained at a risk capital investment company inspired him to research the risk capital market. He started his PhD studies in the Doctoral School of Business and Management of the Corvinus University of Budapest in 2016, specialising in Corporate Finances. At the same time, he started to teach at the University, too, and in 2020 he was given an assistant research fellow status at the University. His teaching portfolio includes subjects related to risk capital, corporate financing and business planning. From 2016 to 2019, he participated in the programme of the Pallas Athéné Domus Scientiae Foundation supplementing the doctoral programme. He defended his thesis on public risk capital investments and startup ecosystem in 2021. His research areas include early-phase corporate financing and risk capital, and he was involved in several research tenders in relation to these topics. 

Institute of Social and Political Sciences/Department of Sociology 

Federico Pachetti is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Sociology and Social Policy, Corvinus University of Budapest. Previously, Federico held fellowships and teaching positions at Corvinus Institute of Advanced Studies (CIAS), New York University Shanghai (NYU Shanghai) and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). 

Federico is interested in the history of the international political economy of the 20th century, with a focus on how international financial institutions and philanthropic Western non-governmental organizations promoted the development of mixed economies in developing countries after 1945. Federico is currently working on a book manuscript exploring how different American and international economic institutions facilitated the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) integration into the global economy during the 1980s. Bringing together different fields – the history of capitalism, the history of Chinese economic reforms and us foreign policy – the book will use the PRC case to showcase how the reconfiguration of global capitalism after the 1970s was more flexible than it is often presumed, accepting and fostering the co-existence of market and planning in post-socialist transitions.  Federico has received several funding for his research from, among many, the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese Ministry of Education, the Society of Historians of America’s Foreign Relations (SHAFR), the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs, and the Rockefeller Archive Center in New York. 

Federico received his PhD in global history from the University of Hong Kong. He has two masters, one in History of International Relations from LSE, one in International Relations and European Studies from the University of Florence. Federico completed his bachelor degree in Political Science and International Relations at the University of Pisa.   

Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems/Department of Mathematics 

Péter Pusztai works at the Department of Mathematics of the Institute of Data Analysis and Information Systems of the Corvinus University of Budapest. He graduated from the Applied Economics and Economic Analysis programmes of the University, then continued his studies in the Institut für Höhere Studine in Vienna. He obtained his doctoral degree in 2022 at the University of Minnesota, where he taught several subjects related to economics. His main research area is game theory and its applications. His current issues include the examination of bargain models in networks. The aim of his present research is to define the impacts of the system of economic and social relations on the strength of the bargaining position of individual players and on the efficiency of bargaining processes. He had the opportunity to present his results at international conferences. 

Institute of Global Studies/Department of World Economy  

Dženita Šiljak is an assistant professor at the Department of World Economy at Corvinus University of Budapest since September 2022. She obtained her MA degree in International Economy and Business from Corvinus University and holds a PhD in Economics from University of Sarajevo. Her main research fields are economic convergence, the transition and competitiveness of former socialist countries and the role of institutions in the process. She has worked as an associate research fellow at the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade (IFAT) since 2018. She is author and co-author of several papers and books in English and has been a participant and lead researcher in domestic and international projects. 

Institute of Operations and Decision Sciences/Department of Decision Sciences 

Attila Szathmári graduated in 2003 from the legal predecessor of the Corvinus University, the Budapest University of Economics and Public Administration, specialising in Production Management and Logistics, within that in Environment Management. Following that, he worked as an analyst, then as a supply chain manager, first in Prague, then in Budapest for the Procter & Gamble, the SABMiller and later for the Dreher. 

He started the doctoral programme in 2013 at the Department of Environmental Economics and Technology of the Doctoral School of Business and Management. In 2020, as an assistant lecturer, he joined the Department of Decision Sciences of the Institute of Business Economics, teaching at courses like Decision techniques, Sport marketing media, Global sustainability challenges and Sports and sustainability. His primary research area is the relation between sports and sustainability, he published several scientific publications in English, among others in the Sport in Society. 

In parallel with the economist career, he completed the media training of the Komlósi Oktatási Stúdió (media school), and since 2003 he has been working for the Telesport, then for Viasat, and now for Eurosport as a sports commentator, providing live commentary on swimming, cycling and football events from several Olympic games and World and European Championships. He is a regular participant of the podcasts of the channel, and that is where his articles about sports are published. 

Institute of Economics 

László Tőkés graduated from the Corvinus University of Budapest as an economist and an economist-teacher, then obtained his doctoral degree at the same university. In parallel with the doctoral programme, he completed the PhD scholarship programme in macroeconomics, finance and methodology offered by the Athéné Domus Scientiae Foundation of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (National Bank of Hungary). In 2010-2015 he worked as a research assistant for the Institute of Economics of the MTA, then for the Central European University. He tried his hand at teaching first as a demonstrator, in his third year, and since then he has been teaching continuously, in various forms. He was the lecturer of the year in 2019, and in 2019 and 2020 he was awarded multiple lecturer prizes based on the votes of students. He has a wide teaching portfolio, the main part of which consists of economic and data analysis subjects. He is continuously involved in the development of learning material. 

Institute of Strategy and Management/Department of Organisational Behaviour 

Éva Vajda graduated from the Business programme of the Corvinus University of Budapest, specialising in organisations and management. Following that, she worked for 8 years in the competitive sector in HR, and obtained a postgraduate degree in business and economic psychology consultancy, also at the Faculty of Humanities of the University. From 2015 as a PhD student, from 2018 as a part-time assistant lecturer, she worked for the Department of Organisational Behaviour, while as a part-time job, she worked as a teacher and a researcher in the Family Business Centre. She obtained her PhD degree in 2022 at the Corvinus University of Budapest, Doctoral School of Business and Management, and in her research, she examined the impact of performance management on perceived justice in Hungarian family businesses. As of the autumn of 2022, she will continue working for the Institute of Strategy and Management as an assistant professor. Her teaching activities cover mainly organisational behaviour, human resources management and family business management. 

Institute of Economics 

Róbert Venyige obtained his bachelor degree in economics at the Corvinus University of Budapest, then worked for the Ministry for National Economy as an analyst, and obtained a master degree at the Central European University. He finished the doctoral programme in economics at the University of Michigan in 2022, and as of this autumn, he is one of the lecturers teaching Introduction to Economics at the Corvinus University. His field of interest is economic history and the role of ownership rights in long-term economic development.

Institute of Economics 

Vyacheslav Arbuzov graduated from Bogazici University with a major in Economics. He obtained his Mater’s degrees in Economics from Koc University and University of Rochester. He received his PhD degree in Economics from the University of Rochester in 2020.   

He joined Corvinus University of Budapest in September 2020 as a postdoctoral research fellow. At Corvinus, he taught courses related to microeconomic theory and industrial organization. His research interests are microeconomic theory, game theory and auction theory. 

Institute of Strategy and Management/Department of Organisational Behaviour 

Yousef Katul graduated from the Corvinus University of Budapest, at the master programme of Organisations and Management. He started his doctoral studies as a student of the Doctoral School of Business and Management, his research subject is intercultural management. 

He obtained his PhD degree in January 2022. He joined the education work of the Institute of Strategy and Management as a PhD student in 2016, and as an assistant lecturer in 2020, at the bachelor and master programmes, and since 2022 he has been working as an assistant professor. 

Institute of Strategy and Management/Department of Management and Organisation 

Máté Zavarkó obtained an MSc degree in Management and Leadership at Corvinus University of Budapest. He started his PhD studies in 2017 at the BCE Doctoral School of Business and Management, specializing in organization and management theory, and he earned a PhD degree in 2022. His doctoral dissertation was written about the relationship between disruptive energy technology developments and organizational changes. His main research areas involve change management, corporate governance, innovation, and transformation in the energy sector. He has published his research results as a co-author in recognized Hungarian and international journals, furthermore, the books entitled Change Management and Corporate Governance, written by him and Dr. habil. Zoltán Csedő, associate professor, head of department, were published by Akadémiai Kiadó. In addition to his research and teaching activities, he also participates in corporate technology development and business development projects.
