Gyula Vastag is elected chairman of The Wickham Skinner Teaching Innovation Award Committee

The goal of the organization is to reward teacher excellence. A call for applications has also been announced for researchers.

The Production and Operations Management (POM) award ceremony will be held in Florida on 21 – 25 April 2022. The event will feature awards presentation in five categories, with Gyula Vastag, professor at Corvinus University of Budapest, being chairman of the committee awarding The Wickham Skinner Teaching Innovation Award for Teacher Excellence. 

In April 2022, the international organization POM will also present five prestigious awards to outstanding current and future researchers in the field. 

The Wickham Skinner Teaching Innovation Award rewards teacher excellence, and Gyula Vastag, professor at Corvinus University of Budapest, is the chairman of the award committee. The professional organization is looking for teachers who have demonstrated their professional knowledge through the diversity of their courses, encouraged their students, and received positive feedback from both their students and their colleagues. Another important criterion is creativity and innovative solutions used in teaching methodologies. The ideal candidate has exerted a major impact on both their profession and their students. The award may be accepted by up to two people at the ceremony in Florida. 

Documents required for application: 

  • a report of maximum 5 pages on the applicant’s teaching method and philosophy 
  • other documents that support the results presented in the report

The Chelliah Sriskandarajah Early Career Research Accomplishments Award recognizes the work of young researchers who completed their doctoral degree after 2015. The committee is looking for applications that are suitable for shaping and developing POMS’s mission, practice, and approach. 

The portfolio required as part of applications must include the following documents: 

  • a motivation letter of maximum two pages presenting the main results of the applicant’s research work 
  • CV 
  • the applicant’s three most outstanding research programmes 
  • up to three letters of recommendation

The Emerging Economies Doctoral Student Award (EEDSA) rewards researchers of the future. POMS regards it as its task to inspire students and help them build their professional relationships. The award is open to students from developing countries in the following areas: 

  • Africa 
  • Asia and the Pacific 
  • Latin America and the Caribbean

The Martin K. Starr Excellence in Production and Operations Management Practice Award is for POMS professionals, where individual contributions are rewarded. Applicants may work in the service and/or manufacturing industry, as well as in agricultural, sports and health, non-profit humanitarian, or governmental organizations. 

Applications: 

  • CV 
  • a description of up to three pages of their contribution to POM

The Sushil K. Gupta POMS Distinguished Service Award recognizes the activities of professionals who have significantly contributed to the development of the company and who have held a significant management position in the organization for at least 6 years. 

Applications: 

  • CV (title, company, address, e-mail address, telephone number) 
  • short scientific CV (max. 1 page) 
  • brief description of your activities within POMS (max. 3 pages) 
  • minimum three letters of recommendation from other POMS members (one letter of recommendation is of max. 2 pages) 
  • a 500-word statement that can also be used in a press release 

The portfolio must be submitted as a single pdf file
