ERASMUS+
Supplementary support for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses

Corvinus University of Budapest

One of the key priorities of the Erasmus+ programme is inclusion and diversity. Accordingly, the programme places particular emphasis on ensuring that participants with fewer opportunities have a better chance of taking part in Erasmus+ mobility. Applications may be submitted in accordance with the provisions set out in the call for applications for supplementary financial support for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses participating in the Erasmus+ programme.

Equal opportunities support may be applied for at the same time as supplementary financial support for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses.

  • Additional costs related to mobility that are directly linked to relocation, travel and staying abroad.
  • These costs arise exclusively in connection with mobility and are related to a long-term illness or disability.
  • Costs that cannot be funded from other sources, without which the person would be unable to take part in the mobility programme without the supplementary grant.
  • Costs related to daily living (e.g. meals, everyday necessities, medication), i.e. costs that would be incurred in Hungary even without the mobility programme.

Students who have been awarded an Erasmus+ grant for the 2026/2027 academic year are eligible to apply, provided they have a long-term illness or disability (for example, visual impairment, mobility impairment, hearing impairment, diabetes, lactose- or gluten-intolerant, or have other medical conditions) and

  • their condition demonstrably results in additional costs during their stay abroad compared to the average cost of living abroad
    OR
  • may put them at a disadvantage in participating in Erasmus+ mobility.
  • In the case of supplementary support for equal opportunities, 250 euros per month.
  • If applying for supplementary funding in excess of 250 euros per month, an itemised application and account are required.

In this case, the applicant must list in detail on the application form the items for which they are claiming support and the respective amounts. The total amounts claimed for the entire duration must be indicated on the application form. Support may only be claimed for items that are closely related to the stay abroad. In the case of itemised claims (regardless of the amount), an itemised account of the full amount recommended by the medical assessor is required in all cases. If the student also receives supplementary funding under other equal opportunities criteria, they must provide an itemised account of the full amount recommended by the medical assessors.
