Dormitories

Why dormitories?

  • Dormitories are places for lifelong friendships, socialising, partying until dawn and learning together.
  • Dormitories are not only a cheaper way to live than renting, but they also help you with your studies and make you part of a community.
  • Check out Corvinus' dormitories, where you can stay in the heart of the city centre, a few minutes' walk from the university, or in panoramic rooms on Gellért Hill.

Self-funded international students starting their studies in September 2025

You can choose between our two dormitories:
  • Gellért Campus Dormitory
  • Ráday Dormitory

If you're an international student starting in September 2025, you can apply for accommodation after registering in Neptun, the University’s online administration system, and paying your tuition fees for your first semester. If finding accommodation is urgent due to visa requirements, consider other options beyond the student dormitories.

We will inform you in May about the launch of the dormitory application through Neptun.

  • Recorded status in Neptun
  • Payment of tuition fees in Neptun
  • Dormitory applications will be available in May.
  • Apply easily through Neptun by selecting the appropriate application period and adding your chosen dormitory (Gellért or Ráday). Complete the form and upload necessary documents in PDF format.
  • If you miss the main application period, you can still apply later, as long as vacancies are available.
  • You can cancel your application on Neptun, but once you cancel, you cannot submit a new application in the same cycle. No cancellation fee applies if done before the specified deadline; however, a fee applies after the deadline.

To obtain an accommodation certificate for a place in a dormitory, after a successful dormitory application students must submit the move-in application (via Neptun), thereby accepting the conditions outlined in the request. Additionally, payment of the dorm fees for the first semester of the chosen study period is required.

The application will open in May and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications will be assessed promptly, subject to availability. If the available places are full, you are advised to explore alternative options as soon as possible.

Gellért Campus Dormitory: Located near Móricz Zsigmond Boulevard, just a short metro ride from the university’s main building (Fővám tér) on the M4 line, making it easily accessible by public transport.

Ráday Dormitory: Situated near Bakáts Square, within a 10-minute walk from the university’s main building (Fővám Square). It is also easily accessible on foot or by tram (2 or 23) from Kálvin Square or Boráros Square.

Most dorms are close to public transport. From the airport, you can take a bus to the city centre. In the city, students can travel with a county pass or a national pass. Prices for students range from 2.5 EUR (county pass) to 5 EUR (national pass).

Rooms range from 2 to 5 beds, with some offering private bathrooms. Amenities include basic furniture, internet access, a fridge, and shared kitchens. Laundry facilities are available in all dorms.

You can request a roommate through a form provided by the dormitory. Requests will be considered based on room availability.

All dormitories have shared kitchens. The Gellért Campus also offers a Fresh Corner Café. The Student Union organizes community programs, such as beer pong and Halloween events, for a cultural contribution fee.

Dormitory fees range from 125–280 EUR/month. The payment currency matches the one used for tuition fees (EUR or HUF).

The deposit must be paid in advance to the Neptun joint account. You must transfer the money and confirm the payment in the Finance menu on Neptun.

  • If you cancel your place in a dormitory before the start of the normal dormitory admission procedure (typically early August), 20% of the fee paid will be retained.
  • If you withdraw after the announcement of the results of the normal dormitory admission procedure (usually end of August), 50% of the fee paid will be retained.
  • For the latest rules, always refer to the Regulation of Student Fees and Benefits (RSFB) document.

All dorms have 24-hour reception services, electronic access control, and camera systems to ensure student safety.

For any issues with your room or other questions, contact the dormitory management. Contact details are available on the dormitories’ websites.

Other long-term accommodation

Our university assists students in finding accommodation beyond university-run dormitories. We recommend several private providers in Budapest, especially when dorms are full or don’t meet individual needs. These providers have been vetted by the university and have experience in the field. However, the university does not manage or guarantee availability, and students are responsible for handling contracts and reservations themselves.

The university is not liable for any financial or legal issues arising from the relationship between the student and service provider.

Please note that these providers are also popular with students from other universities, so competition may exist.

These accommodations are mostly run by private investors and can host larger groups in the same building, similar to dormitories. Rooms are usually en suite with basic facilities and offer private room options. They provide places to university students from various institutions and have common areas, kitchens, study rooms and laundry. Additional services include reception, maintenance, cleaning, and in general gym access. Monthly rates range from EUR 320 to 1000 per person, with mostly including utilities.

It is similar to standard rental properties but exclusively for students. The accommodation is fully equipped and tailored to student needs, they are offering shared studio or private apartments. Most are private rooms with shared communal spaces, except for independent rentals. Monthly rates start from EUR 300 per person, plus utilities, varying based on room size, services, and occupancy.

Short-term accommodation

This accommodation is ideal for short stays, whether for attending a conference, course, or temporarily while searching for longer-term options. Located in central Budapest, they are within walking distance of the University. Reservations must be made directly with the accommodation provider according to their specified conditions.
