Another Milestone in Bookr Kids’ International Growth

Horváth Dorka, Corvinus University alumna and founder and CEO of Bookr Kids, has spent the past ten years working to help children develop a love of reading. Following its experience in the Hungarian education market, the company has grown into an international success story: its Bookr Class English language learning software is now available in 30 countries and reaches an estimated 600,000–700,000 children worldwide.

Bookr Kids originally started out with digital storybooks, but today a significant share of its revenue comes from Bookr Class, its AI-powered English language learning solution. The software is used by more than 200 schools in Hungary and is a market leader in its segment in Türkiye. More than 90 percent of the company’s revenue now comes from international markets.

Bookr Kids has now reached another important milestone in its international expansion, closing a €6.1 million Series A funding round, equivalent to approximately HUF 2.2 billion, to finance its further growth plans. For investors, the company’s ability to scale rapidly in international markets, as well as its proprietary intellectual property in the field of educational technology, were important factors in the investment decision.

Over the next two years, Horváth Dorka aims to reach one million children and generate €5 million in revenue, with plans to double both figures over the longer term. “We have now reached the point where, with a larger injection of capital, we can enter a new phase of growth,” she told Forbes.

The story of Bookr Kids is a strong example of how a Hungarian edtech company can achieve significant growth in international markets: the company is now present in 30 foreign markets, while the vast majority of its revenue comes from outside Hungary.
