A Corvinus Degree Becomes More Valuable as the University Moves Up in the QS Rankings

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is one of the world’s leading rankings for comparing universities. It helps prospective students worldwide make informed choices about the institution best suited for them, while also providing universities with valuable data and benchmarking opportunities. QS publishes multiple lists, including regional rankings and rankings for business master’s and management programs. Perhaps the most important is its annual global ranking, where Corvinus currently falls in the 1001–1200 range. Over the coming years, however, a strategic goal is to move the university significantly higher in this ranking.
How Can Corvinus Improve Its QS World Ranking?
QS takes several indicators into account when compiling global university rankings. The most important include:
-
Academic reputation
-
Employer reputation
-
Student-to–faculty ratio
-
Research citations
-
Proportion of international faculty and students
To compile the ranking, QS surveys hundreds of thousands of alumni, employers, academics, and researchers worldwide. Their responses to the QS questionnaire are factored into the overall results. Universities prepare contact lists of potential respondents and send them to QS, which then reaches out to each individual with a questionnaire about their university.
A university’s position in the QS World Rankings depends heavily on the opinions of associated groups—faculty, researchers, employees, alumni, and employers who hire the university’s graduates. For this reason, we encourage everyone to participate in the QS survey if invited. The university will first contact all potential respondents and only share email addresses with QS after consent is given. The questionnaire will then be sent directly by QS.
By improving its QS ranking, Corvinus not only benefits prospective and current students, but also automatically increases the value of degrees held by all of its alumni.
