The use of AI and its ethical challenges in higher education

2024-09-20 14:05:00

Two Corvinus articles on the subject have been published recently.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

A paper by Attila Dabis, academic writing consultant at the University Library, summarising the results of a questionnaire survey on the preferences of Corvinus faculty members in the use of AI was published in the New Pedagogical Review (Új Pedagógiai Szemle) Review Vol. 74 (2024), No. 05-06. The study found, among others, that lecturers use AI platforms more often for their research than for their teaching. They are aware of the potential benefits of AI and its new challenges and would therefore consider it important to have publicly available guidance on AI adopted by the university as soon as possible.  The publication (in Hungarian) is available here.

A joint article by Attila Dabis, the University Library’s academic writing consultant, and the head of the Corvinus Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Csaba Csáki has been published in the Q1 Springer journal Humanities and Social Sciences Communications. The comprehensive analysis addresses the ethical challenges posed by generative artificial intelligence tools in higher education and examines the initial responses of universities worldwide to these challenges”. The publication is available here.
