Vice-Rector Lajos György Szabó Bids Farewell to Corvinus

After eight years in senior leadership positions at Corvinus, the Vice-Rector for Academic Programmes is stepping down and leaving the university.

Lajos György Szabó, Vice-Rector for Academic Programmes, will step down from his position and leave Corvinus University of Budapest following the conclusion of the 2025–26 academic year. 

Lajos György Szabó joined the Corvinus academic community as an Associate Professor in 2016 and was appointed Full Professor in 2018. Between 2018 and 2021, he served as Vice-Rector for Academic Programmes, followed by a term as General Vice-Rector from 2021 to 2023. From 2023, he served the university for one year as Acting Rector before returning to the role of Vice-Rector for Academic Programmes. 

In his farewell letter to the university community, published alongside this announcement, he explains the reasons behind his decision. After eight years in senior leadership, he wishes to return to his role as a researcher, with plans to write academic articles and a book. 

Under Lajos György Szabó’s leadership, Corvinus launched 30 new bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate professional programmes. Alongside his steady leadership of the Programme Management area, he also played a key role in building and developing the university’s outstanding international academic community. 

On behalf of the entire Corvinus community, we thank Lajos György Szabó for his tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to the university’s development and progress throughout his years in leadership. We wish him every success in the next stage of his professional career.
