Our women’s team started with a victory at EUSA

Europe’s best university volleyball teams in Budapest.

The Corvinus women’s volleyball team was placed in Group B together with teams from Italian, Dutch, and Estonian universities. In the opening match, they managed to defeat the University of Wageningen team with a balanced and confident performance. The team started with Rózsa, Polgár, Bartók, Schmidt, Jámbor, Takács, and Rucz (libero). At the beginning of the first set, the two teams were neck and neck, but from the middle of the set, they managed to impose their game on their opponents and win by ten points. In the second set, the opponent fought hard and took a four-point lead. After a timeout and some substitutions, the team pulled out the recipe for success from their bag of tricks and took a two-nil lead with a five-point difference. At the beginning of the third set, the match was evenly balanced, and the Dutch team took the lead again. A short break, precise play, and good individual performances were needed for the final victory. This set also ended with a big difference, 25-18. The substitutions also contributed to the success, with Puskás (libero), Rácz, Szabó, Gergely, and Őszi also taking the field. The other match ended in a closer victory for Italy, so the girls are waiting in first place in the group for tomorrow’s continuation. The tournament continues at 9:00 with the University of Tartu team.

Congratulations to the team!
