2024-11-22 09:20:00

8 November 2024 | Corvinus University of Budapest | C.102
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

Martin Nesirky, Director of the United Nations Information Service in Vienna, gave a lecture at Corvinus on 8 November entitled “Pact for the Future – Building Hope in a Fractured World – UN Priorities in 2024”. Mr Nesirky had an extensive journalistic career at Thomson Reuters (1982 to 2006) and then served as Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations in New York from December 2009 to March 2014.

The audience gained an insight into how the UN deals with international conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, Haiti or Sudan, and how it tackles complex global issues. It was truly inspirational and provided valuable details for students who aspire to work for the UN or other international organisations. The event ran longer than planned due to the length of the Q&A session.

IR TALKS is a series of guest and roundtable talks organised by the Department of International Relations at Corvinus University to make sense of the world we live in at a time of turbulent international politics.
