Four colleagues received their academic appointment certificates

Congratulations to our appointed colleagues, whose professional profiles can be read in the article below.

At Corvinus, for a long time we regularly celebrate our colleagues’ academic advancements, the arrival of new faculty and researchers, and the appointment of new  Professor Emeriti. Starting last November, the University has introduced a new tradition for awarding certificates: newly appointed colleagues are now welcomed each month during the Senate meeting. This allows the University leadership to personally congratulate them immediately following their appointment.  

At the most recent session, we celebrated the promotions of the following colleagues.  

Admilson Veloso da Silva – Assistant Professor (Institute of Marketing and Communication Sciences) 

He obtained his PhD in Communication Science from Corvinus University of Budapest, and previously earned a Master’s degree in Social Communication in Brazil. His research focuses on visual social media (particularly Instagram) youth self-presentation, digital discourse, and populist communication online. He has published in leading journals such as Communication & Society and Mobile Media & Communication, examining the impact of social media and issues such as digital ageism. Since Spring 2021, he has been teaching at Corvinus University of Budapest. In addition, he is active in academic service as a conference organizer (e.g., Co-Chair of the Corvinus Communication Conference) and as a member of several scientific committees. 

Ádám Reiff – Associate Professor (Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems) 

He earned his degree in Economics from Corvinus University of Budapest (1998), followed by a second Master’s degree and a PhD (2007) from the Central European University (CEU). He began his career as a researcher at the Hungarian National Bank, specializing in macroeconomics and econometrics. His work has been published in leading international journals and has received more than 400 citations. More recently, his research has focused on political economy, with publications in journals such as Perspectives on Politics and Politics and Governance. He has over 19 years of teaching experience in methodological subjects at CEU and Corvinus, consistently receiving excellent student evaluations. In addition, he is active in academic service, organizing international conferences and professional programs. 

Juhani Laukkanen Tommi – Research Professor (Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation) 

He previously held the position of Vice Dean for Research at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF). He has been a professor for over 17 years, with research interests in digital banking and innovation, international marketing, SME strategies, as well as customer experience and sustainability. His work has received more than 12,500 citations, with an h-index of 48, and he is listed among the Stanford “top 2%” scientists. He has published in leading journals such as Journal of World Business, Tourism Management, and International Marketing Review, and is an active international researcher and visiting professor. He has supervised hundreds of Master’s and PhD students. He has secured significant research funding and serves on editorial boards, contributing actively to the academic community. 

Wieland Müller – Research Professor (Institute of Economics) 

In previous years, he was a Professor of Economics at the University of Vienna and the Director of the Vienna Center for Experimental Economics. He obtained his PhD and habilitation from Humboldt University in Berlin. His research focuses on experimental and behavioral economics, game theory, and industrial organization. He has published in leading international journals such as American Economic Review, Economic Journal, and Journal of the European Economic Association. He is an active member of several editorial boards and scientific committees and has led numerous international research projects. As an educator, he teaches from undergraduate to PhD level, has supervised more than a dozen doctoral students, and received the Tilburg University “Excellent Teacher Award” in 2019.
