Phishing email sent from a compromised university email account

We ask everyone to exercise increased caution when handling emails and to report any suspicious messages to the IT Helpdesk immediately.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

On Tuesday evening, May 12, 2026, several of our students and colleagues may have received an email from Dr. Petra Németh, Associate Professor at the Institute of Economics, sent from the address petra.nemeth@uni-corvinus.hu.

Unfortunately, although the email was indeed sent from her university mailbox, it was not actually sent by her, as the account had been compromised. The message was a so-called scam email, meaning it contained fraudulent and misleading content.

Similar deceptive emails may have been or may still be sent in the names of other individuals as well. We kindly ask everyone to pay increased attention to email security and not to open suspicious content.

If anyone receives such an email or a similar message, please report it to ithelpdesk@uni-corvinus.hu

Thank you all for your cooperation.
