DSG Fachtag 2026 – Smart data: From data to insights

DSG Fachtag, DSG’s traditional spring professional event, was held on the 6th of May, 2026, and this year, it was titled “Smart data: From data to insights”. The symposium was opened by Dr. Lajos Szabó, Vice Rector for Education, and Dr. Krisztina Keller, DSG Director.
The first presentation was given by Dr. Stefan Mang, Managing Director of the market research centre (CENTOURIS) at the University of Passau. In his presentation, he provided insight into current trends in the tourism customer journey, with a particular focus on how smart data can contribute to improving the customer experience and increasing the efficiency of related corporate processes.

Dr. Johannes Wachs, Head of the Centre for Collective Learning at Corvinus University of Budapest, analysed the international development trends of artificial intelligence in his presentation. He pointed out that the current development trajectory of the European Union may project a competitive disadvantage compared to the USA, which may impede AI-based economic growth opportunities in the long term.

The scientific presentations were followed by a professional roundtable discussion moderated by student Kíra Kubitsch, during which the participants could gain insight into the opportunities and challenges of applying smart data from a corporate perspective. The participants of the discussion were Kristóf Antal, lecturer at Corvinus University of Budapest, Márta Morillo-Cserepkai, Business Development Manager at S&K Solutions GmbH, and Andrea Vörös-Szabó, Lead Consultant at KPMG.

At the end of the programme, informal networking provided an opportunity to strengthen professional relationships and the informal exchange of ideas between members of the DSG community.
The programme and invited speakers of this year’s DSG Fachtag well reflected the close educational and research cooperation established more than three decades ago between Corvinus University of Budapest and the University of Passau.
